Popular Post trmoore54
Probably posted this before but here's my FF1. Purchased from a fanzine ad in 1971 for 50-cents. Taped 2 quarters to a 3x5 index card, mailed it off and crossed my fingers and it arrived about 2 weeks later. It had 2 missing pages which I later purchased a coverless copy and married the 2 wraps to the book. Keeper. RobHW
I felt lucky to win this Strange Worlds #1 on an eBay auction recently for $63. Yeah, it's very worn and stained, but it's complete, no missing pieces, nice colors, and staples are holding. Just a few rust specks on the staples. I'm guessing the bids were kept low by what appeared to be a missing piece on the right side edge of the front cover next to the ten-cent price. But it turned out the triangular piece of one-fourth inch by one-fourth inch by one-eigth inch was folded under the cover! What a terrific surprise! Easier to see from the interior side. First book containing artwork from both Kirby and Ditko. Kirby saucer cover. The rich colors evoke an evening at a state fair, and so many classic images of that era: the teddy bear, the roller coaster, the Ferris wheel, the space ship ride...the romantic drama.
