The "My Favorite Piece From Your Collection" Game!

184 posts in this topic

Well, I don't want this thread to fall off the first page, so....

This was an easy pick for me, Jovi. It's [urlhttp://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1203375]this cover[/url] right here. Kitson's work on the book left an indelible mark on the character. And of all the covers to the series, this is, without question, one of the best. Just the central figure surrounded by flames. Absolute perfection!

What a great gallery!

I struggled to chose between the late era Kane Batman cover and this late era Buscema Spidey cover. On the one hand, the Batman cover has a fantastic Batman image...while this Spidey cover has ... no Spidey. It's about as "quiet" a cover as you'd find.

But that's what I like about it!

Plus, while I like the printed color version of the Batman color more than the color version of this cover, in terms of the inked cover art version... this just really pops. I'm assuming/hoping it's up on a wall some place where you get to enjoy it every day!!

Mark you have a lot of art I would love to add to my own collection! Was not easy to choose between Gibbons / Watchmen, BWS / Astonishing Tales 6, Wrightson / Freakshow, Finlay / Twilight Zone and a few other pages of yours. But I'll pick this one:

Gibbons - Watchmen 4 end page

... not only because it's a great comic book and a page really nice to look at, but also because of the text and the Einstein quote. It really adds to the atmosphere of this page!

Yes you have a Raymond Flash Gordon. Gulp! But for sheer storytelling, cleverness and just plain fun I'll go with this Don Rosa page. Hard to choose between the pair that you have. It would just be a coin toss.... Literally.

Thanks to remind me that these photos are a shame, I updated them a few months ago with nice scans and additional images on 2DG but forgot to do it on CAF smsc047.gif

Fixed! And maybe someone can explain why gold pieces are silver in the US (compare published pages in US and France) smsc004.gif

Wow, Dan. I could get lost in your gallery.

I'll pick the Wendy Pini cover because there are so very few in the wild and because it is lovely. Thanks for sharing it. Click to embiggen.

This was very difficult, I went back and forth between the Romita M.J. Commission and This , Kubert was just meant for Sgt. Rock :cloud9:

As soon as saw this page http://comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=963514 I knew it was going to be my favorite. There are some other very nice pages in your collection; the Quietly Invisibles DPS title page is quite spectacular also.

Man, you have a GREAT collection !! It was very hard for me to make

my pick as there are many fantastic pages by some of my favorite

creators. Still, I did want to spotlight a piece, by an artist who I consider

to be truly underrated, considering the high profile projects he was

involved in and the quality of his art.

So here's my choice -

Avengers #223 Recreation Cover by Greg Larocque

Beautiful version of an iconic image.

This is pretty easy. Gal, you collect the items that I grew up with. Each of your pickups is instantly recognizable to me.

Hands down this one because I was the underbidder - supposed to be the overbidder but I screwed up by not asking what time zone bids were due.

Milos, you forgot to pick a piece from eewwnuk's collection. That's how the game is played. You pick a piece from the last person who's posted collection, then link to yours so the next person can do the same. :)

Gal, thanks for the kind words. Greg Larocque did a great job on the Avengers 223. Always one of my favorite covers. I think he is vastly underrated also. Greg did the interior pencils to that same issue, so when my wife was able to commission him to recreate the cover I was very happy. 223 also happens to be my birthdate (Feb 23rd) so that is a cool coincidence. I proudly display it in my comic room.

ah, got it. I think the jewel in eewwnuk's collection is the complete Breyfogle Detective 612 issue, very cool!

Okay, I've probably done this too often, but ...

Roger has a wonderful collection and I could pick from it a dozen or more times, but this is one that I always mention. It has the best panel that Dillin ever did. Can you guess which panel? :)

Great collection, many excellent pieces to choose from but I selected this one - a piece I have looked at more than once ... finally left a comment. Kudos on all the great art!

Well, Dave, this was an easy choice for me. It's this double pager. The primal nature of it, as well as the strong emotional intensity, just makes it impossible for me to ignore. Plus, I love Tex's art, too. :)
