Am I missing something with the Captain Marvel Adventures 1 CGC 5.0? Why is it at $24k already?

Lots of reasons.

1st off, Whiz #2 (1) has taken off with this book lagging behind.

2nd it's impossible to find in high grade. That CGC 5.0 is actually the highest graded (1 of 2) copy.

These old Fawcetts used a cover stock that caused the cover to tear off very easily so this book is not often found with a cover attached.

I didn't realize this but a Conserved 3.5 went for $4500 last year. :o

Doesn't hurt that it looks better than a 5.0 either IMHO.

It will be interesting to see where it ends up. I just recently started collecting Fawcetts and have found them surprisingly affordable. This is clearly an exception.

I'm thankful that I started years ago. CM titles have started to rise across the board for a few years now.

The one stunner for me so far is the Pep #34. The 9.2 looks like a bit of a gift grade, but I guess that doesn't matter much with the next-best books all the way down at 7.0.

That book blew my mind.

Fawcett Raboy covers are just downright depressing now.

OMG, the price on Captain Marvel Adventures 1/nn… wow!

Didn't expect that… did you?

Yes. Bc I was offered the book last year at 18 and passed doh!

Figured it will cost 25+ this time

One of the books I was planning to pursue but now looks like I will watch from the sideline

I'm a bonehead.

Let's not exaggerate!

you clearly don't know The Gator as well as I thought you did

Well, I actually meant that GAtor calling himself a bonehead would be like you claiming to be Einstein - or me claiming to be Mother Theresa!

Looks pretty thin this time around for books.

Yes, but there seems to be a bevy of SF books for this particular auction.

Wonder if one of the long-term collectors is starting to cash out on part of their collection? hm

To win one of those it will take a stack -- a tall stack. :D

One of the lesser ones may be possible...... but the 16 or 18 will likely reach lofty heights...... my 2500 max bid on the 16 will be dust in the wind...... GOD BLESS....
