Kinda surprised with these auction results. Any thoughts? Noticed heritage a couple times have had some low prices on high grade Vamps

Greg,

I thought we had a deal!!! You’re supposed to inform me when there’s an auction that’s gonna fly under the radar Before the Auction ends 🤦🏻‍♂️.  :roflmao:

That auction strikes me as an anomaly- I’ve seen some awesome mags fly under the radar at HA and other sites too- looks like this grouping was one of them. Hope it was a boardie 👍🏻, but dang, Greg!- look alive man- do your job 😂🤪

Maybe Greg, himself, won the trifecta?

🤔- He told me he didn’t like collecting Vampirella and said to sit back and wait for him to notify me when a good auction came up.

now I’m starting to question everything 😂

There was probably a discount baked in, since they were sold in an unreadable state....

Lol

I had them on “tracker” and then never watched the auction. Big mistake I guess

But I won 3 books a couple months and 2 were in this range (including a 9.6 Vamp 20). I guess no love for that cover 😂

Its one of my favorites- looks like a Conan cover

Excellent, Rip!  Here's an updating of the list:

  1. Savage Tales 1, CGC 9.8, $37,200, 19 November 2021 (HA)
  2. FOOM 10, CGC 9.8, $33,600, 8 April 2022 (HA)
  3. Vampirella 1, CGC 9.6, $25,000, 30 November 2021 (CGC Boards)
  4. Vampirella 1, CGC 9.4, $13,145, 3 March 2022 (CL)
  5. Famous Monsters of Filmland 1, CGC 9.4, $12,500, 2006 (?)
  6. Famous Monsters of Filmland 1, CGC 9.2, $10,312.50, 5 November 2021 (?)
  7. Spectacular Spider-man 2, CGC 9.9, $10,157.50, 13 May 2016 (HA)
  8. Vampirella 1, CGC 9.6, $10,157.50, 24 February 2011 (?)
  9. Spectacular Spider-man 1, CGC 9.8, $8,663.75, 13 May 2016 (HA)
  10. Deadly Hands of Kung Fu 19, CGC 9.8, $7,299, December 2021 (CL)
  11. Marvel Preview 2, CGC 9.8, $5,640, 7 March 2022 (?)
  12. Vampirella 3, CGC 9.8 $5,300 (?)
  13. More Trash from Mad Magazine (NN), CGC 9.6, $5,280, 12 September 2020 (HA)
  14. Famous Monsters of Filmland 4 (Ghouls Eye Edition), CGC 7.0, $5,000, March 2021 (?)

I feel like there are a bunch over the last couple years that are missing.  Can anyone think of other additions?

If anyone predicted these kind of prices 2 or 3 years ago we would be calling for the straight jacket, does the bubble burst? Or does the madness continue? Surely it can't go on forever, can it?

FWIW, Heritage is and has been a terrible place to sell magazines.  Historically, ComicLink and ComicConnect have realized better prices.  Also, eBay.  Not sure why that is, I think it's just the buyer profile on Heritage.

I've picked up screaming deals on mags from Heritage over the years.

I'm reaching back to this post to ask a question.  Is this the highest price paid for a comic magazine (not including Playboy, etc.)?  Is the recent FOOM sale the next highest?  It would be interesting to list the top 10 highest prices realized for comic magazines right now as a snapshot of the current climate.  I think it could be useful to maintain a running list.

Anyone feel like giving it a shot?  (I would but I don't have access to some of the data, others will have better access to GPA, HA, CL, CC, etc.)

Here's a few to start:

  1. Savage Tales 1, CGC 9.8, $37,200, 19 November 2021 (HA)
  2. FOOM 10, CGC 9.8, $33,600, 8 April 2022 (HA)
  3. Vampirella 1, CGC 9.6, $25,000, 30 November 2021 (CGC Boards)
  4. Vampirella 1, CGC 9.4, $12,500, 3 March 2022 (CL)

Feel free to revise, add, correct with better information.

It’s crazy when 2nd tier characters like Man-Thing fetch ridiculous prices. It IS a great book and I am very happy to own a very nice raw copy but geez.
