I've never read the story (if there is one), but he's supposed to be a robot.

I read somewhere that the MECHANICAL gear thing was added after the artwork was submitted to make it seem as though it were a ROBOT or something, and not as GRUESOME as was originally planned.

I seem to remember something along those lines also, kinda like like an escape clause if anyone said it was too brutal a image. "Well it was just a robot, see the gears!"

 

Before hearing that, I always thought it was a bomb implanted in the guy's head going off!

Speaking of manga, I got a tad cheesed at Jeopardy the other night. The question was " The term used for animation from Japan?"

 

The guy answers, "What is manga?"

 

Alex responds, "Correct. Manga or anime." I thought the terms refered to differing forms of medium, apparently Jeopardy does not.

 

As for last night's drink... hint: It Came from Maine.

Manga is not necessarily animation.
