Love the colors on this one! Certainly, "Satan" had to be a hot (no pun) marketing buzzword for horror books in the early 1950's. I wonder how many readers today would know what a stradivari is, though. hm

Man, wish my LRC wasn't obliterated. :(

Hey all - been a while. Speaking of Everett, I was looking through the new guide and noticed that Venus #'s 17-19 jumped HUGE from 2007 to 2008. I know a lot of the pricing is subjective, but this was a jump of better than 32% on a fine copy. Pretty rare to see movement like that year over year (especially on mid grade copies). Any idea why this is?

Those are some very sought after books. Actually, I'm surprised OSPG finally got around to bumping them up. BTW- can you list the new prices for all grades? :wishluck:

I don't know if this was discussed on the Undead Thread before but I have seen a lot of scans recently that have work by Powell and Palais and I was wondering whether one of them or both colored his own art. I have seen where this was done for some strips by some artists. I suspect Powell would do it in his shop. But I wonder about others too. Particularly when they did complicated backgrounds. Did any of these color guides survive? Examples below. I am sure people have seen better Powell examples but I am still looking.

Another example of the creative use of color is this page by Cole.

Fantastic Russ Heath cover . . . one of my favourites! (thumbs u

Indeed! Nice cover Z. As I collect Atlas Giant monster covers, I believe this may be one of the first. Great work by Heath!
