Not that it matters but they have a Wood DD page listed as from issue 6 but I'd swear it was from issue 5. The Matador was in 5 and Mr Fear was in 6. In their defense the page has "Daredevil 6" written on it in what looks like crayon (?)

Yea it is from 5, I just checked Marvel Unlimited. It's Daredevil 5 Page 19. So it's weird I checked HA auction archives. Page 20 from DD 5 already sold and it is "Daredevil 6" in red and then published DD 6 2 pages that have already sold have "D.D. 6" in red on them. So I think maybe they axed an issue and moved 6 up to 5 and then did 6? Or something along those lines.

Apparently Orlando had a big fight with Lee over credit (Orlando was scripting but Lee was taking credit for it) and left after 4. Around the same time Wood had just came back so Lee through Wood on the book, maybe it was a means of calming wood (who was also annoyed about scripting and drawing the book. Remember though, Kirby did the cover on 5.

The description is odd:

Lee's Golden-esque art style suits the subject matter well in this kinetic cover illustration featuring all of the major players in the series.

1) Byrne with Austin inks....the only time they paired on MTU

2) one of the best pages from the issue/half splash

3) fondly remembered issue/strong Red Sonya fan following

4) one of the best pages from the issue

5) pages from this issue never come up = pent-up interest

6) Overpriced.

Cough.

It can not be over priced if at least two people think its worth that price in an auction.

Not even if the underbidder is a shill?

Not saying that's the case here, just taking issue with the logic a little ;) as we know it goes on.

Nah, lots of people have fond memories of this particular issue, and pages from it are scarce (I've only seen/heard of two others before this one). And, as this page is the first from the book to hit the auction block, it's no surprise to me that there's a lot of pent-up demand for an example. Maybe it's surprising that it's hit $10K (w/the juice) this quickly, but I pegged it at $12-$15K from the outset and it hasn't even hit that range yet. This one was never going to fly under the radar or go cheap, and I'd bet that the current high bid won't win it. 2c

If you look at most bids as possible shills, I don't see why you bid in HA or are even interested in the auctions.

Seems like I have touched a nerve with the Byrne fans ;) I don't like that page, at all. I'd rather light my money on fire than pay the 15k Gene suggests, but I'm sure people feel that way about stuff I like, too, so its all good... we all have our favorites. I like Byrne a lot for the record. Just not this one.

And here's one of the two other pages from MTU #79, which is just like the Heritage page, except for no Red Sonja, or Spidey, or action:

But I still like it. Best, Lee
