Wonder Woman 81: Wonder Woman issues from the 50s are all pretty tough. The cover to this issue is quite distinctive for it's unsettling color design that is unlike almost any other 1950s DC.  It looks out of place as if it was printed before the advent of the Comics Code by one of the premier pre-code horror publishers.  Census:  tied for highest with one other copy.  Old label CGC 8.0 for $1100.

Ideal #2.  Pages and covers this white for a WWII era Timely are really, really tough.  The Funny Animal group was a fairly talented set of artists and were pretty much left alone making the interiors a more interesting read than their standard superhero fare.  Census:  1 in 9.2 and 1 in 9.0.  De-slabbed CGC 9.0 for $350.

Label will be shipped with comic.

Crown Comics #1.  There's a nude woman on this cover.  That would seem intuitively obvious to the average observer yet no mention of it is made by either CGC or Overstreet.  Evidently, if it does not require a magnifying glass to find a bare-breased babe on a cover (I'm looking at you Punch 20) it doesn't count.  Either that or it's the uber high grade and page quality on this copy that made it pleasantly easy to spot. Census:  tied for highest with the Church copy.  CGC 9.6 white old label for $2000.

AMF 21 Church copy.  This was my first Centaur, purchased from Mr Bedrock because I'm a huge fan of Basil Wolverton.  Census:  3 in total, highest is 6.5.  Even among Centaurs, this is a very difficult book to find in any sort of decent condition.  This is NM+ copy with white pages that looks fresh off the newsstand from 1940.  $10,000.

I've included a scan from the 9 page Wolverton story because it is spectacular work by Basil that looks even better when the pages are still snow white.

The green line down the center of the cover is a scanner artifact.

Fantastic 8 Northford.  During the height of the pre-code horror era, horror was a universal thematic influence so that even Sci-Fi covers like this one featured sci-fi/horror fusion.  This Northford copy has the rich colors you would expect from the pedigree. Census: 2 in 9.2, 5 in 8.5. Old Label CGC 8.5cr/ow for $550.

Boy Comics 23 Leave Census: 2 in 9.2.  Charlie Biro was a marvelous story teller and his comics, like this one, are nearly always a good read.   This is a super fresh copy with pages so fresh the copy melts in your hands.  Near Mint with white pages for $450.
