Darwination
This last one is fantastic 👏 Dunno that I'd say public transpo is worse than it used to be, seems better in most cities. I saw some stuff in the 80s that can't be unseen, and I'd guess it was even more grisly in the 70s
Hepcat
@jimjum12 That looks like a piece by Stanley "Mouse" Miller who did a lot of Fred Flypogger art in the early to mid-1960's: And yes, I'm all about beatniks, monsters and hot rods (as well as comics)! jimjum12

Yes, this was the beginning of his career. In the late 1960’s he “tuned in” and moved to the Bay Area and started doing concert posters for Chet Helms and the Family Dog. Amazing stuff. This is probably his most famous one. The most iconic Grateful Dead poster of the era. grendelbo, ThothAmon, jimjum12 and 2 others 4

But I still preferred him as a beatnik marketing T-shirts to hot rod enthusiasts and sundry greaseballs though. Though I had rock star long hair for decades beginning in the late 1960's myself and an enviable accumulation of LPs, I rebelled against the whole hippie thing. I decided it was far more counter culture to be a muscle car loving greaseball. So I drove a candy apple red Dodge Charger with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As and an engine courtesy of Jesse at the Hemi Shop (but with a Craig Powerplay cassette deck and Pioneer 6x9 speakers for my Rolling Stones, Doors and psychedelic garage rock). And no, I've lost neither my hair or greaseball attitude to this very day! Edited May 22 by Hepcat jimjum12

Darwination
I kind of wish my Grizz had kept Jonas Valanciunas instead of moving to Steven Adams, but he was great for us, too. I grew up in punk rock and always made fun of "granolas" (my parents generation, though neither were dead heads) but have warmed to the fact that an explosion of color is actually counter-culture in this day and age. A boy friend of my daughter's left this T-shirt behind with my daughter, and she gave it to me: I put it on for a trip to the gym the other day. My wife said, YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS jimjum12, grendelbo and Hepcat 2

My wife said, YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS I started on the British Invasion, slipped into the psydellic era and moved into the New Wave/Punk era. Still searching out good music that rocks today. I had a great shirt in the new Wave era. It was a Stiff records promo. It said on the front: “If it ain’t Stiff” and on the back “It ain’t worth a F…”. My wife hated it and tried to throw it away but I always managed to get it back. My younger daughter found it when she was in high school and I gave it to her. She wore it to death. Popular Post Robot Man
Show report… Pulpalooza in Anahiem CA last night. First show on the West Coast dedicated primarily to Pulps. Show ran from 3-8 Pm. Was held in a side room of a local brewery. Free open craft beer and all the tasty bar-b-que you could eat. There were about 80 collectors. All invited to bring stuff to buy, sell or trade. All at no charge. High end stuff was encouraged and it did not disappoint. A room full of awsome eye candy. asimovpulps, PopKulture, Ricksneatstuff and 6 others 8

Popular Post Robot Man
My observations… There were a few dealers from the East coast as well as folks from up and down the CA coast. Pretty good for a 5 hour evening show. Pulps are on fire. Prices are in some cases 10 times what they were a year ago. There were no deals on anything decent. There were probably 6 copies of the Startling witch cover. Priced on the low side of $200 for a 1.5 to $2,700 for an 8.0. None of them sold. Anything with a skeleton on the cover, anything titled Spicy or Mystery, Weird Tales or Planet were nosebleed numbers. Common sci fi titles were nuts. I suspect, folks are afraid to sell a lot of books thinking the prices are going to keep going up at current levels. There were a couple of high dollar sales. A pretty nice Spicy in 6.0 sold for $15K. A couple of $5-7K sales. But most went home with no sale. High prices are a good thing if one is actually getting these numbers. But there is a down side long term. I talked to several new collectors wanting to get into pulps. Most left empty handed and shocked. Probably giving up. Even veteran collectors like myself also left empty handed. Many are priced out at the get go. This is not good for the long term good of the hobby. I am hanging in hoping things will settle down a bit in the next year or so. A lot of folks are letting short term greed kill this hobby from the beginning. I took a different approach. I brought about 5 short boxes of pulps and GA comics. Some nice books and some bargain books and everything in between. A good mix of all genres. The newbies had fun especially after a disappointing trip around the room. There were some happy veterans. I discounted VERY little. I really didn’t need to. I want to promote the hobby to new collectors. The future of the hobby. I did very well. Way beyond what I expected. Amazing considering how little I brought and the fact I didn’t even have to pay to set up. Now, replacing what I sold is another story… Another thing that kind of suprised me was Paperbacks. I had a box full and sold easily 75% of them at pretty decent prices. I was the only one with any. PB’s are HOT and catching on finally. I would like to thank Nate and the other producers of this show. A very fun and worthy show. Sure hope for more future shows. Saw quite a few board members and made some new friends as well.
