I have a feeling reporting sites are adding expenses into that figure so as to account for everything else building up due to the delays. Leading to an assumption it must be $300M just to make the movie.

Except...that the initial MovieWeb article cited above adds the interest figures in addition to the original production costs - and therefore comes in well above $300 mill.

Reading the below paragraph, the UK analysts state original production costs of 199.5 million pounds (~$274 million) - with interest charges the production cost is now $226 million pounds (or $311 million at today's exchange rate, not the $314 million stated).

"Breaking this down, No Time to Die was last costed at 214 million pounds according to Companies House in the UK, with the amount having increased from 199.5 million pounds due to interest charges. Now, a year later, that has risen to around 226 million pounds, or $314 million, and once marketing costs have been added into the astronomically priced mix, that comes to around $464 million at the lower end, making that the rough figure No Time to Die will need to make in order to be profitable."

Except - the expense was what the expense was at a point in time. Now adding in TVM to emphasize the film has to make a bunch more is not an argument applied toward other films like Black Widow. But it's an interesting concept when a debater wants to make a situation look worse.

What was that 'naive' thing you were talking about again? :baiting:

This film has just been bleeding money sitting on the shelf. Doubtful they will break even now. Which is kinda sad since I have a feeling this will be the best Craig Bond movie since Casino.

Nice to see this recognized versus the periodic article 'CRAIG HATES BOND!'

Quote

Daniel Craig was overcome with emotion while giving a speech when his final James Bond film wrapped in 2019.

In a portion of the new Apple TV+ documentary Being James Bond, the 007 actor tells the crew of the upcoming No Time to Die that he loved every moment of being the character and working with all of them.

“A lot of people here worked on five pictures with me,” says Craig, holding back tears. “I know there are a lot of things said about what I think of these films, but I’ve loved every single second of these movies. And especially this one because I’ve got up every morning, and I’ve had the chance to work with you guys. And that has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”
