The grade seems fair to me - might be what I'd pick if grading it raw for resale- I figured CGC would give it anywhere from a 5.0 to a 6.5 and picked a middle grade ( just the wrong one). I'm still trying to figure out how much CGC punishes a mid-grade GA book for dirt - I haven't found a consistent pattern yet. If the front cover had looked like the back cover it wouldn't be higher than a 4.0, but I don't think anyone, including CGC, gives as much weight to back covers as front covers.

I actually gave it a 5.5 on the 1st day but failed to submit the grade!!! That sucks So I've sent in my grade for round 6 already.....

My point about the BC is not that it controlled the grade, but that it accurately revealed the extent of the wear to the book, and the amount of spine creasing present.

Since when am I a notorious UNDERgrader? I thought I was just a plain old lousy grader. I didn't realize I was known for being consistently wrong in a particular direction of the scale.
