Found one on ebay that sold for $300, you're not alone.

Isn't it every comic fan's dream to snuggle up to a couple pillows?

I already have Superman pillow sleeve, Batman/Joker pillow sleeve, even Star Wars too. All pre 1980s  ...yeah I am that fan :shy:

Has the seller started talking money yet?  I couldn't imagine how to begin to price this collection.  It is INSANE!

The seller has a value of what the entire collection is worth.

Those aren't pillow sleeves or cases, they are inflatable plastic pillows as advertised in various Marvel comics in the mid-late 60s. Greggy probably has the dates memorized.

I prefer Satan's pillows myself....

Too bad it's unrealistic based on what I've seen so the deal may be a no go.

There are some interesting and nice items in the collection but they aren't great enough to make up in the value discrepancy.

I think this is the kind of thing where you just do a little negotiating then make your best offer then walk away for a month or two.  Then call and if he hasn't sold it, let him know you're still interested at that same price (if you are still interested).  If he calls you, then offer even less, as he wouldn't have called you if he wasn't ready to go.  At least that's what I'd do if our numbers were too far apart.  And/or just buy items you actually want for yourself in 'bulk' at better margins for him, slightly worse for you since you're not reselling.  If you offer straight cash (IN HAND) for large obvious groupings of items,  he might find it hard to say know.

His initial price is unrealistic but we will see.

Hey guys, thought I'd share some photos of a collection we looked at last night.  Please note we haven't bought this yet and this isn't a sales thread.

The primary focus is anything, and I mean anything, about or by Steranko.  Collector is also into Gulacy and Dave Stevens.
There's 144 boxes of books and a pile of prints and posters.  There's certainly lots of comics but there's also tons and tons of fanzines, convention program books, Magazines, newspaper clippings, posters, etchings, Trades, art books, etc.

it's a real challenge for us to assign a valuation on this collection as there's all kinds of stuff we've never seen and there are multiple copies of many items and some of it is signed.

I love the excitement of the find and the fact that you are documenting it so well.

Unfortunately, it literally opens the entire world to the fact that you are looking at this collection and there are many people who would think nothing of either sabotaging your discussions or cutting in.

There is always the possibility that someone else has seen this stuff and knows exactly who /where it is.

I hope you guys get it and i hope that it works out awesome, but that is the reality.

I'm aware of the risk Roy and I'm fine with it.

Hopefully you guys can cut a deal that works for everybody.  If he's really out to lunch that makes it tough.  Lots of cool books and items for sure, but if he's looking for you to back-up a Brinks truck, no go!

The collection is a dream and a nightmare at the same time.  So much stuff that is rarely traded and even rarely seen.  How do you know what to pay for it?  How do you price it once it's purchased?  It's maddening enough to think the right move is to walk away at anything but the most comfortable pricing.  And then there is the time already invested just trying to go through it.  Uggh!

Well said.

While some of it would sell at local comic conventions the bulk of the collection requires online selling either here on the boards or Ebay.

There are literally hundreds of posters as an example that are a shipping nightmare ( in my opinion ).
