Remember when as a kid we would go there just to look at the train and slot car layouts. You could spend hours in there looking at all the models and stuff. When we were kids we built all kinds of stuff, flew model airplanes with those .049 and .029 engines. Built hand gliders, built models, made all kinds of stuff in the basement with balsa wood and glue. Had Stombecker slot car sets, H.O. and Lionel trains, H.O. Aurora race sets, we did all kinds of stuff. They even had big slot car tracks up town and had races there on Fri and Sat night. No one even knows what that stuff is anymore. Their idea of fun is looking at a stupid cell phone. Who remembers the Cox slot cars, or K @ B. Those were some fun days. Note sure if I've told this story before, but what the hell. One afternoon a few summers ago, a friend of mine who owns his own business and works from a shop in his house noticed that his kid and a bunch of his goofy middle-school buddies were all lounging around in the basement, staring at their phones or at the ceiling, doing nothing at all, and basically wasting that most precious of all commodities: free time. So my friend, paying no attention to them whatsoever, started to putter around on the other side of basement from them...digging boxes out of a closet, clearing out some space near the back wall, rummaging around and pulling stuff out of a large storage tub, etc. Slowly, very slowly, the boys (who, frankly, are all pretty slow at that age when it comes to "situational awareness"!) began to wonder what the hell the old man was up to. "Nothing," my friend said. "Just digging out some old toys of mine that I'm planning to sell at the church flea market this weekend". The "old toys" were vintage Hot Wheels cars, sets, and track from the '70s...yards and yards and yards of track w/connectors, loops, jumps...the works. Within the hour, my friend was back in his workshop, and, a few hours later, the boys had transformed the basement into one of the largest Hot Wheels layouts in family room history -- a web of tracks and accessories that started at the top of the steps leading to the kitchen, and spread out like the tentacles of some ginormous orange octopus when it hit the basement floor...running over stacks of books, under the couch, across the coffee table and even through the sliding door and out onto the patio. Kids don't really change. Sometimes, they just need to be shown the way... Not a huge Con but for $8 it definetely is a must if you want to check out some books. All the proceeds go to Make A Wish and it gets about 20 local comic vendors. My only disappointment was Zapp Comics brought only toys and no comics. I wasn't there. I think someone opened up a toy store and used my name. 1Cool

Dan82
Is there any dealer out there wanting to buy a whole collection? I have 3,200+ that I need to sell, value on comicbookrealm.com is $90,000+ and I would like £20,000 for them. I'm in the UK, it's mostly all marvel and dc, silver and bronze age, a few modern variants. It works out at roughly six quid per book. Considering there are some keys, and long runs of all the major silver age titles, and lots in beautiful condition, I think it's a great deal for any buyer who has that sort of cash. They weigh a ton and are all stored neatly in 20 short boxes, probably would need to go on a boat to the USA... Maybe I'm dreaming, but I can't shake the thought of a 20 grand lump sum for them. For an example here is the list of spidey books. There are x-men, avengers, daredevil, fantastic four, batman, detective comics, flash, adventure and action comics just like this, fractured runs and randomness... I simply haven't the will or money to keep on with it. Sorry to hear about your depression. This isn't the correct place for sales. There is a subforum dedicated to that, but you would need to post a full list with prices, not just the Spider-Man stuff. It's located here: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/63-comics-market-forum-only-selling-area/ Good luck.

Sorry for the sombre tone of my post, I'm just trying to help myself before this depression finally beats me. There are resources to help you with your depression. The NHS has a section devoted to depression, including information on where to get treatment. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/clinical-depression/ That said, however, I've found that the way to beat depression is to get outside of yourself and help others. Volunteering at a local shelter, helping other people (or even animals) can do wonders for your own outlook. Here's a site to help you about that, if you're interested: https://www.ncvo.org.uk/ncvo-volunteering Hope that helps. It wasn't about teaching kids a new game (although that helps and is done by parents). It was about teaching kids to play something active rather than sit on social media. A parent's job in the digital age is to help their children manage social media. You didn't need to worry about that when you were a kid. The closest parallel I could find would be a mother telling their kids to go outside and play and force them off the television. And this is not any kind of joke. If anyone is genuinely interested then please get in touch. Sorry for the sombre tone of my post, I'm just trying to help myself before this depression finally beats me. I think you could put out an ad in your local craigslist or newspaper (if those still exist), or try to contact a few local comic book stores and try to make a deal with them. I don't know about the price you'll get, but I think most comic books stores would at least take a look at your collections since you have all those spidermans.. OR you could start a SEPARATE thread and ask for some information on any UK dealers who buy collections. Or all of the above. Good luck. Stay strong. The Less Blob
I don't want to be a jerk, but I am not sure where you are getting a $90,000 value on those books if the other semi-runs are representative of the spiderman run, where you only have a few keys, no necessarily in great shape, and no early "big" books, that number seems impossible. Raw "9.8s" are just that and aren't worth what they would be in a slab, usually. If you can look up the books on comicbookrealm.com (I cannot get on it with my browser) you can look up completed sales of the same books on ebay to get a better sense of the market. And I understand you are seeking a fraction of that number, which is a good mindset to put yourself into. With that said, there are dealers in the UK, aren't there? An internet search pulled up like 20. Reach out to them. 20 short boxes can be driven around in a car with a decent size back seat and a trunk, though maybe not a mini. Have yourself a road trip if they won't come to you. I assume you understand that a lot of those spidermans you have listed from the 80s to more recent are $1-$2 box type books, so a dealer, or anyone here paying shipping, are just not going to put a real value on them. The Less Blob
I apologize if I did not display sufficient empathy. I did not get enough sleep last night and my dentist has informed me that I may wind up losing some teeth I spent a bunch of money getting root canals on earlier in the year. This too is depressing the heck out of me. I will probably be having a "please help me pay for dental implants because I don't want to be missing my front teeth" sale if I can get myself out of this funk and motivate myself to scan some comics. Dental work is so frigging expensive. Uhg. ComicConnoisseur

The value you get will depend largely on the other keys you have. I think most dealers would pick out the 30 most valuable books, offer you about 30-50 cents on the dollar for those, then offer to buy the rest for like $1 a book or $X per box. $20K (or more) certainly isn't out of the question depending on the keys and their conditions, but neither is $5K. But yes, try to shop it around to local stores. I don't really think there's ANY situation where its worth it to mail to the US vs selling to a UK dealer. I guess there's a small chance you could find someone in another European country who would want it and maybe buy it before Brexit (I assume customs and tax rules will change?), if they wanted to pick it up from you. I have insurance, which helps, but I used up my limit $-wise earlier in the year for root canals that may now have been a waste of time and $ if those teeth are goners. Why is it cheaper in Europe? I thought dental is usually not part of socialized medicine. Anyway, I should be happy I had any insurance I suppose. I have had countless family members who have gone to Europe to have their teeth done over the years (big work...we're not just talking a filling or two) and I have a friend who is going over this year. Countries like Serbia (where I am from) is where my family and friends are going. They have historically had a very high educational standard (they come over here and marvel at how uneducated people are) that is not recognized on these shores (my 1st ex was a laboratory technician to study blood by the time she finished high school but that degree was not recognized here so she had to redo everything - a very common story) but because their economy struggles, things are much cheaper there. My friend is getting a new mouthful of implants for a small fraction of what they cost here. They pay out of pocket but the work costs a tenth of what it costs over here. Dan82
Thanks to you all for your helpful advice. And also for not taking the ! That's actually the first time I've ever admitted my depression to anyone other than my mum. And to a bunch of strangers on the internet! I feel pretty stupid and embarrassed for having done so. Anyway, things are looking a lot brighter today and I am soldiering on, I scanned some books at the weekend and listed them for sale on eBay. And I have decided I'd rather not sell them all anyway, better sell the stuff I'm not bothered about and keep on collecting what I like. I'd sell them in a heartbeat for 20 grand, but that's just never going to happen, and comicbookrealm, yeah, ridiculous valuation, but handy for keeping track of have's and have not's. Just a curiosity, but what would you buy my Spider-Man's for? And what would you sell them for if you were in my shoes (a collector to a dealer)? You'll laugh but CBR say they're worth $12,509.
