Spoiler

After their mission to find the person formulating the Super Soldier Serum brings them to the lawless Madripoor — where Sam and Bucky reunite with on-the-run fugitive and former S.H.I.E.L.D. and CIA Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) — the search for Morganthau points the trio to Riga, Latvia. It's there that Bucky secretly meets with a woman, who says in Wakandan: "I'm here for Zemo."

The woman is Ayo (Florence Kasumba), who famously threatens to forcibly move Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) when escorting and guarding King T'Challa (Boseman) in Civil War. As the second-in-command of the Dora Milaje, all-female Wakandan special forces who guard the kingdom's royal family, Ayo is T'Challa's security chief and the right-hand woman of fierce warrior Okoye (Danai Gurira).

In Black Panther, set one week after T'Challa captures Zemo and imprisons the Sokovian terrorist, Ayo fights alongside Okoye and their king when defending the throne from Erik "Killmonger" Stevens (Michael B. Jordan) in the Battle of Mount Bashenga. Ayo later guards T'Challa's younger sister, Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright), when the forces of Thanos (Josh Brolin) invade Wakanda in search of the final Infinity Stone in Avengers: Infinity War.

Bucky spent some time in Wakanda as the "White Wolf" after Shuri erased the HYDRA brainwashing that made him the Winter Soldier. Now that T'Chaka's killer i

Solid episode, enjoyable throughout.  Zemo was just as good here as he was in Civil War.

Sharon was using a silver baton that reminded me of Mockingbird's billy club/staff.  For a second I couldn't remember if Sharon actually was Mockingbird since they're both blondes, but I guess Mockingbird's real name is Barbara Morse.

She played a tough agent in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

But nothing to THIS level of action in the latest episode. :headbang:

I've struggled to get into the series or care about the characters.

Anyone else not feeling it?

My fiancé and I are in the same boat. We find the writing choppy and too many break away scenes to go to other characters that basically amount to who gives a 💩 about them.

We also agree about the prior post regarding the blip being an albatross. We constantly get distracted watching various Marvel moves and shows trying to remember “Did this person blip out?” We watched Spider-Man Far From Home A Few Weeks ago and were doing it with that, so it’s not just the shows.

Loved Sharon and the cameo at the end.

But it was weird seeing Madripoor - I grew up on the early Wolverine ongoing, so my my entire association  with the place is Logan (ahem - Patch) and Jessica Drew.

Really enjoyed this episode. This series is really nailing the “everything is gray, nothing is Red,White and Blue” feel of the last decade of Cap books...in a way I wasn’t sure they’d be able to do.  And one they certainly wouldn’t have had time to do in a movie.

I really am pleased that Marvel seems to have plotted out a way to really take advantage of the format of episodic TV to support this cinematic universe.

They really brought both Zemo and Sharon into much more interesting and (bonus!) comic-accurate characters... with Sharon I assume that means her whole story was an act and she’s either working with Fury, working with “old Steve” (wouldn’t that be great) or something to be revealed later.

Sad to think just three of these left!

Was that Singapore subbing in for Mandripoor? I loved that bridge they were walking across.

Sharon Carter was awesome. I don’t see how she could be the Power Broker but that’s what the inter web is suggesting.

From a stand alone episode viewpoint, the third episode was the best.  I liked the Madripoor location, and putting Zemo in added an unexpected and nice group dynamic.  It was nice to see Sharon again, but I have not watched an MCU film with her in it in so long what her motivations and how she got there were muddled.

Unfortunately, got a bit of a feeling this show is kinda spinning its wheels.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier reveals a bleak fate for Sokovia that could set up Doctor Doom's introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since Disney acquired Fox and gave Marvel Studios access to X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, fans have been waiting to see how the MCU would deal with introducing some of Marvel's biggest characters. Doctor Doom is near the top of the list of characters fans hope the MCU can do justice by, and there's a chance The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is already laying the foundation for Victor von Doom.

The third episode of Marvel's new Disney+ series continued the team-up between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, but it also brought Baron Zemo back into the fold. The heroes formed an uneasy alliance with the villain in an effort to learn more about who restarted the super-soldier program. Their mission takes them to Latvia and provides more information on Baron Zemo's past. This includes The Falcon and The Winter Soldier providing an update on the state of Sokovia after a chunk of the country came crashing down in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was already known that this event devastated the country, but now it's been revealed that Sokovia no longer exists.

For all of the gracious and loving fans of different realms of nerd-dom, whether it be comic books or Star Wars or video games or what have you, there is a small minority of toxic fans. Unfortunately, these toxic fans, albeit a minuscule percentage, are incredibly loud, especially over social media – and they are relentless and aggressive. Case in point: A slew of fans are sending death threats to actor Wyatt Russell for the role of a FICTIONAL character he portrays in John Walker on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, putting him on a long list of bullied actors by toxic fans.

Ever since his first appearance as John Walker at the end of the first episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Russell has been attacked and bullied online to the point that he had to walk away from social media altogether. This included death threats just because he is playing an unlikable character who is replacing the beloved Captain America. These toxic Marvel fans (and I use the term ‘fans’ here VERY loosely) are literally threatening this actor’s life over a character he is playing.

This is, of course, unacceptable behavior and, quite frankly, ignorant beyond measure. It is one thing to not like a character, especially one you’re meant to loathe. In fact, there is nothing wrong with wanting that character dealt with in some way in the show or movie they are in. That’s the point. But to attack the actor/actress playing the part as if they are that character in real life is beyond asinine.

This is actually kinda cute and proof that Wyatt Russell is doing his job to be the most hated man in the MCU. It also utterly pales in comparison to the ugliness and disgust of the racist mysoginist trolls who attacked Leslie Jones and Kelly Marie Tran and tried (key word "tried") to sink Captain Marvel's ship at Rotten Tomatoes before her ship left port.

Exactly. Well said.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Wyatt Russell says he's not trying to be Chris Evans' Captain America — and that's "kind of the point!"

After military man John Walker (Russell) is handed the mantle and star-spangled shield of a retired Steve Rogers (Evans), the new government-backed Cap tells Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan): "I'm not trying to be Steve. I'm not trying to replace Steve. I'm just trying to be the best Captain America I can be."

For Russell, a newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he knows you don't like Walker Cap — and the Lodge 49 actor is having fun being "the Marvel punching bag for a minute."

Russell told Entertainment Tonight he wasn't nervous stepping into the role of Captain America because "it's different taking on the role in the first place."

"The Marvel understanding was, 'Look, this is obviously not trying to do what Chris Evans did.' 'Okay, great,'" Russell said. "And you kind of do your own thing and I think that's something that is fun for people to put on it. It's really exciting for people to put onto the character. 'Well, you're not that guy!' That's kind of the point. It's kind of what you're playing. It's fun to be the Marvel punching bag for a minute."

That was well said? It was a rant distracting from the real issue: Wyatt Russell is not only being attacked as an individual online, but also receiving death threats from overly-toxic MCU fans.

There's nothing 'cute' about the situation. At all.

Yeah yeah yeah. There's always death threat crazies in a bunch, but for the most part, fans hate Wyatt Russell and his Captain America because it's by design. Fans are supposed to hate John Walker, not love him or want to see him continue as Cap. If fans were indifferent to Walker as Cap, than somebody isn't doing their job. Wyatt Russell himself has said he's proud to be the most hated guy in the MCU.

“I don’t have social media, but I’ve gotten some of the stuff sent to me from friends that were just too good not to see. The best one is the ‘Up’ guy with the helmet on. It’s f*cking unbelievable. I mean, whoever did that deserves an award of some kind. It’s flattering. They just hate the guy. They just hate him! It was fun to be the Marvel punching bag for a little while,” Russell shared.

“That’s the goal,” he told The Wrap of the reaction to his character. “I think people had a fun reaction.”

And again, the social media posts by a few crazies in the bunch that you anti-MCU guys are hyping up PALE IN COMPARISON to the amount of vitriol, racism, misogyny, and yes, death threats thrown at Leslie Jones and Kelly Marie Tran who dared to be heroes in the "wrong" franchise. Kelly Marie Tran got bullied so much she left social media and had to go to therapy.

Quoting Tran about what therapy taught her about dealing with the racism and the misogyny:

"If someone doesn't understand me or my experience, it shouldn't be my place to have to internalize their misogyny or racism or all of the above. Maybe they just don't have the imagination to understand that there are different types of people living in the world."

So you can try to equalize the two situations by minimalizing the Star Wars haters and hyping up the John Walker haters all day long, but you'll be wrong as usual.
