There are many Barks covers that deserve the designation. For example :luhv:

I would certainly add FC 408 - Donald Duck and the Golden Helmet - to that list, probably Sheriff of Bullet Valley (FC 199) and my other fave, Frozen Gold (FC 62) as well.  :cloud9:

Admittedly this is my subjective POV, but given the caliber of art & execution of each, they're all classics.

Interesting thing about Timely Schomburg war covers is that there isn't one of them that's not excellent. If Schomburg had only drawn one Timely war cover, no matter which one it is, that cover would be defined as a classic today. So in the unique case of evaluating Alex's war covers, a collector approaches them by defining the best of the best. There's no other artist in the history of comic books that presents this approach to defining classic covers.

Overstreet finally broke this one out in the 2019 OSPG, but CGC doesn't list it as a classic cover. To me, it's probably my all time favorite comic book cover.

Great cover!

Just make a sticker noting Overstreet classic cover designation and place it on the slab. Doesn't need the designation from a grading company that's in the business to grade comic books, not define the aesthetic essence of those books. Besides, we see stickers on books saying they look nice. A self-made sticker from a long time collector is worth 10x that. (thumbsu

This in a very good point, but to give context to Schomburg's work, there are nuanced degrees of greatness that differentiate his good covers from his great ones.  I could easily make the case that more of his covers should be deemed "classics" than are currently designated as such.

However, in fairness to critics, given the breadth of his output there are many well done Schomburg covers that when taken as a whole are routine when compared with his best work.  In my view, the things that stand out in a classic Schomburg cover are sensational events (forced use of hypodermic needles, torture, physical maiming, KKK attire, skeletal armies, etc.), unique settings and characters or anything that provides a momentous or historical context (epic battles, Holocaust depictions, Hitler/Axis leaders, etc.). Combined with exceptional artistry these covers deserve classic status.

Some fans of Alex's work would probably go so far as to suggest all of his bondage covers are worthy of the classic designation, but bondage is common on GA covers.  Bondage merely implies torture unless other factors are involved.  There are so many GA "bondage" covers that this term should be sufficient to differentiate between speculative torture and depravity on another level.
