Surfing Alien
Impressive price for an obviously trimmed copy. In case anyone is bidding/scouting the endless parade of pulps this guy is auctioning, there's some great stuff but it's a minefield. The Planets are almost all trimmed. The scans on them are pretty well cropped to not be able to see it. I won one of the (very) low hanging fruit and it was beautiful, but neatly trimmed. I won another book that was great and not trimmed but just saying to look closely. This was listed as "Fine" and it would be, except it's definitely trimmed (look at the page showing through on lower right cover) That said, it's one of my top 10 Allen Anderson GGA covers and a total classic! https://www.ebay.com/itm/PLANET-STORIES-March-1951-/294824424868?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 waaaghboss and Randall Dowling

Pretty expensive book listed as Fine....and the entire back cover was taped on and not disclosed. It's a huge collection so I'm sure things will be missed (and they still provide more pictures than ComicConnect!), but @Surfing Alien nailed it by calling this auction a "minefield". I've been zooming in on every spine picture looking for cover separation ever since and it's definitely saved me a lot of heartburn. For what it's worth, I believe it's a relative selling off a big family collection so it's not the same seller with 7000+ sales and 100% feedback. Watching the books pop up has been though Surfing Alien and jimjum12
waaaghboss
I've gotten orders from him, and no complaints but the planet I got was trimmed and I don't like how he uploads photos. Pretty sure he has a decent pulp background because he has auctions for posters of his high grade terror tales and horror stories sets. I just bid on his books assuming they'll be trimmed. It's been on my list for a long time because of Anderson's excellent cover. Screenshot for posterity. Surfing Alien
Pulpvault
Well, if anyone's looking for a nicer copy of the March 1951 Planet Stories, this copy will be in the Friday night auction (held May 6, 2022) at the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention (May 6-8, 2022 at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center). Actually, the auction will contain a complete run of Planet Stories, from the estate of Robert Weinberg. Besides the great stuff in the auction, there's also 180 tables worth of pulps and other goodies in the dealer room. I believe it's Anderson's hand on the female figure, FWIW. There's certainly a couple of the Planet pulp cover direct swipes that have been pointed out on these boards over the years. Anderson was masterful at painting powerful females in full length, twisted, contorted poses, in order to highlight their *strength* Planet 71 certainly has the wonderfully contorted torso, I can't find a direct swipe but the females face looks very much like "The Enchantress of Venus", one of my favorite Anderson wimmen. Well, I guess that answers my question. I won my first pulp from this seller and received it in the mail last week. Being a pulp newbie I’m not up on the the grading though my impression is that the terms are similar to and kind of broad like with books. He describes himself as being ‘stricter than most on eBay’ (which, when I think about it, really isn’t saying much). The biggest defect - a rough tear with associated creasing an color loss on the back cover - is visible in his tightly cropped pictures (I have no idea if it’s trimmed or not). Overall it is nice, and I think I’m ok with what I paid for it. But based on the comments above it kind of confirms my suspicions that it’s probably not the “Fine” he listed it as. Depends on the book, sometimes they were factory trimmed. You could always post it here, there are some pretty knowledgeable people here that could tell ya. I just got in this operator 5 today, and comparing it to the issue that came out a month later, I'd say it's trimmed.
OtherEric
Which months? I’ve got all but 10 or 11 issues of the title and might be able to check against my copy. I got this copy off commicconnect with an undisclosed reattached back cover, not surprising lol, but when comparing mine to one on ebay to see if it's worth upgrading I noticed the back covers were different.
