Popular Post RBerman
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Terry Moore still had Rachel Rising pages available. This one not only advances the story of Rachel discovering she is undead, but also functions as a one page gag. delekkerste, Garf, Mighty Hal and 2 others
RBerman
Hey ho, it's time for some more cheap art in my favorite category, "detailed pencils." First a pair of Yvel Guichet pages from the 2012 iteration of Stormwatch. They're both "gathered around the conference table" scenes, but not from the same issue. Next, an undated pair from Joe Phillips which I suspect are unpublished try-out pages in which two villains tear into some sky-cycle cops. And next, an unusual look at the Marvel Bullpen circa 2014. The artist is evidently named Kevin Snyder. And finally, Adriano Batista's cover to Jungle Girl Season 2 #5. Or rather, a perfect 8x12 recreation of the 11x14 published cover. I have great difficulty telling the two images apart except for their size. Panelfan1, Sean I and delekkerste
Popular Post RBerman
A while back, I acquired all 22 interior pages of District X #6 by Perkins and Hennessy. It's a cop story involving Bishop and his human partner, hunting a mutant they wrongly think has harmed the human cop's daughter. This week I was able to get the final four pages of the previous issue (#5, by Yardin and Sicat), which show that the girl was actually shot accidentally by her younger brother, because dad left his service revolver at home. Here's the whole collection. It plays pretty well as a silent movie, which shows good storytelling by all involved. I contacted him about a commission. He said he would do it, then contacted me to ask if I wanted some art he had for sale too. Said they were old chaos pages just sitting around and would let them go without much trouble. So, I paid him for everything. Then he ghosted me. I sent him one email that was little more firm, asking about a refund. He said the pages were actually just prints, but he'd still send them with my commission. Then said he didn't have them, but never refunded me. Then ghosted me and sent me nothing. Then he sent me a scan of the commission (it wasn't very good), but never actually shipped it to me, and never mentioned the "art" he sold me again. I might be misremembering this, but he may have even implied that since he'd drawn the commission our deal was done and he didn't need to ship it to me (despite me paying for shipping and him offering to send me other art). This was over six years ago. He also told me he would only accept western union transfer (first warning sign) NOT PayPal. To this day, one of the worst experiences I have ever had with an artist. The only one that rivals it was Peter 'pedro' Vale another old chaos artist. When I contacted him to discuss this piece (which I got from another collector), he was friendly and mentioned that he was taking commissions. I asked for details, which he never sent, so I did not pursue the matter further.

Popular Post Bridom
Finally got my Tom Raney STORMWATCH page. Followed by a Raney TEAM ONE page. Lots of cool action! I jumped on this dynamic Tom Derenick piece from the new WILDC.A.T.S #6. The book's other artists are mostly digital so it was nice to get a tangible page. Popular Post Rick2you2
I don't get to come here very often, but it's a nice change of pace. This is a page from Reign in Hell. The penciller is Tom Derenick and the inker is Bill Sienkiewz. I had been looking for a page from Tom by reason of his work on the Shadowpact series, but, as luck would have it, he opened his old storage container and this popped out. Orignially, he offered it on Facebook at $300, but when I saw other interest in it, I quickly pm'ed him and offered $400.00. He had my earlier IM's expressing interest in his work, and I won (I suspect the extra $100 helped). For a static 6 panel, I think it's quite good. Derenik's pencil work is always very good, and Bill S's "arty" side is in evidence in his ink washing of panels 4 and 5. As for Zatanna, that is one baleful stare. Why can't I find more stuff like this? (Although, I am regularly impressed at the high quality of the Morelock art). First, a pair of pages from Brian Stelfreeze, from an Oracle story in DC Showcase '94. I got these from him at Lake Como. Here's Nick Bradshaw with a Medusa page from the series Inhumanity. Nick mainly does covers now, in his Art Adams-influenced style. And one by Peter Mayhew from X-Men: Gold. Here's a Geof Darrow acquisition from Lake Como: Finally, this Marco Rudy DPS was Morlock-priced when considered per-page, so I'm posting it here. It's from the 2014 edition of Uncanny X-Men. While I like a lot of what you get, I was wondering if you have any developing focus to your buys other than “I buy what I like”. I don’t expect most people to be as limited as I am, but you do cover a lot of different styles, artists, characters and layouts. Was the Rudy DPS panel squiggle for the layout intended to mean something?

The Voord
Picked this UK Movie Poster painting up about four weeks ago for the US equivalent of about $350. ADVENTURES OF A PRIVATE EYE (1977) movie poster painting (artist unknown). British (lame) sex comedy starring a whole host of British character actors popular at the time, whom I would imagine will be mostly unknown outside of my country. There's an acetate overlay containing text and character photographs, so I'm showing the art with and without . . . along with a photo of how the artwork looked in print. alxjhnsn
$75 decoration! My friend Michael was working Dallas Fan Expo for Bedrock City Comic Co. and he stumbled upon (no not literally) a dealer who had three Katy Keene pages for sale for cheap. Sadly, not as cheaply as I can be sometimes. To my regret, I only bought one, but it's a nice one. It's between today's standard size (11x17) and that of yesterday (15x22) at 13.375x19.5x and therefore quite large which is nice. It has a few notes and no white out as well. Just a nice solid page by Woggon's studio and maybe by Bill himself (he signed the story, but ...). I really like the change in lettering for the tale within the tale. Oh, the other two pages are in the Additional Images section of the CAF link. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=193006 Edited June 13, 2023 by alxjhnsn Aahz, RBerman and fenip
