I have began to use words like "grousing". And have been using time tested phrases like "two in the hand is worth two in the bush". I don't actually know what that means, but I am using it. As I age, I am also unconsciously beginning to employ dad jokes. My sister saw a comment on my FB page and she said "Dad jokes? Really?" I didn't realize I had. The horror I felt when I began a story to a younger person: "I remember one time.....I guess I must have been YOUR age....(soft chuckle)...." What we sometimes fail to remember is the generational shift in values. The stereotypical plump grandma in an apron baking cookies and turkeys at Thanksgiving is no more. It has been juxtaposed with the aging, pot smoking, listened to Black Sabbath and Deep Purple as a young adult grandma. And you had better think twice when they offer you Koolaid or a brownie.
