An auction house buying form another auction house. How typical.

I'm going to guess that the majority of books sold in the last HA auction weren't bought by another auction house.

Looks like the winner of the Action 1 rocket copy is publicly known: Owner of Goldin Auctions

I saw the pic he posted on IG with the book! Meanwhile average customers like myself are still waiting on books from the November signature auction!

For all we know he flew to pick it up.

We can debate whether or not skipping the queue is fair or not when you spend 3 mil, but we don’t know the facts here.

Personally, if I were to spend $3M on a book, I wouldn’t mind flying to pick it up either.

I would fly around the world to pick up a 3M book

Who's to say I didn't spend on a big book either? If I had the option, I'll fly economy to pick it up, save myself the anxiety of it getting lost in the mail, and visit my family in the area:bigsmile:

Frankly I don’t see anything wrong with it.    Whether he’s a fan or speculating or trying to get attention for his business or all three, his money is as good as anyone else’s.

It's just that it makes you wonder how deep and authentic the market really is, or if it's just a big shell game between a few deep pocketed players to create the appearance of ever increasing prices.

But if one is a "collector" and simply buys what one likes and only at prices that are comfortable then what does it really matter how deep the market is or what might be happening in some remote area of the hobby that only a few play in?

Maybe give them a call.  I won a book last Saturday, paid the next day, and it shipped out yesterday.  I'm for sure not an A-Lister with HA.

Oh wow, here I thought I was an A-lister because they send me their glossy catalogs:roflmao:I'll give them a call on Monday.

That more accurately describes the original comic art market. HA and Clink are just an accelerant that makes it happen faster.

What can we really expect at 7 figure prices?   The air gets thin.

Yes, which makes it even more worrisome that the already thin air is even thinner than expected.

I fully expect that the niche titles in the Promise collection are going to people already in the hobby.  But I guess I had started to drink the kool aid in believing that the Big Liquid Books of the hobby might actually be going to new money.

I don't understand this logic.

Nearly every dealer in the hobby with the exception of maybe a few isolated people either were or still are collectors.

And nearly every collector is now a dealer.

So your point doesn't make sense.

C-Lister here. :kidaround: I guess once you buy a book or two from them, you get glossy catalogs for life because I'm sure it's been a while since I bought anything from there. It is fun looking at all of those beautiful books.

But hasn't this pretty much always been the case for seemingly decades now, as I remember the same comments being thrown around back in the 90's about the big time dealers and long before the comic specialty auction houses arrived on the scene.  (shrug)
