Maybe the tauntauns aren't native to that area, and the skeletal remains of one we see are also one from a Rebel that survived an encounter with a Wampa?

@Yorick,im changing thread  because this is off topic but yeah,that was my first tatoo,for me a tatto represent or put diferently should reflect a part of you,so its my name in kryptonian,since i worked all my life working various metal,the breaking chain and a riveted metal plate teared up represent many aspect of me and what i like.will probably continue expansion on that tattoo soon.
