Michael Browning
Kevin is autographing every piece of art. Even the Frank Miller DD page that he had nothing to do with. Won’t that make them just like the J. Scott Campbell covers autographed (marred) by Stan Lee? At least each piece comes with a COA. That and the autograph should really add value! 🤦♂️ Edited August 29, 2023 by Michael Browning
Popular Post vodou
I read that as Kevin signing the COAs not the art. Those bidding, or more curious than I, could ask for clarity. SquareChaos, Twanj, Bill C and 2 others
ThothAmon
Bodnars auction house. Are they known for their comic art auctions? Never a big fan of Smith admittedly but this makes no sense to me.

We need look no further than the press release, on their website, and no doubt written by themselves that clears it all up: "Joe Bodnar, the auction house’s esteemed curator, ...." "The auction will be conducted by Joseph Bodnar, a distinguished figure in the auction industry known for his expertise and professionalism in handling high-profile events."That along with the inclusion of a COA (always an important part of every REAL comic art purchase) makes me feel silly for my initial doubts. Oh I don't know, there are quite a few nice pieces in there if you like your DC, Vertigo and indie stuff. If it's not your thing then sure there isn't much meat on the bone for buyers. There isn't really a focus on anything super powered. To me it looks like a pretty cool part nostalgia, part creator collection. If he's selling it then OA was probably never really a long term priority. I have always wondered if creators eventually become less and less interested in what they did as they move towards getting the next thing out of the gate. malvin
I still have the 2 pieces I bought from him the last time he was selling his art in 2011 (a Matt Wagner Arrow Cover and a Mazz DD cover homage by Oeming links here ( CAF Wagner Cover and Oeming DD Cover Homage) I was surprised to see all those Matt Wagner Green Arrow covers. I could have sworn I have seen some Matt Wagner Green Arrow covers sell. Were they other issues or did Kevin Smith buy them from the secondary market? Or did I mis-remember seeing them for sale? I'm not really in-the-know of a lot of comic professional collections going to auction - but I kind of got that first impression as well. Popular Post Bird
geez, how do y'all really feel? I've been a bodnars customer for years, shame they are all online now as pre-pandemic it was in person only and I bought often then I was in Jay & Silent Bob secret stash a few months ago when Off White and Mike McKone were there, talking with them and the manager when he mentioned the art sale coming up; they use bodnars to sell comics time to time so have a pre-existing relationship. I had seen one or two pieces in the auction on the wall and had inquired about prices and was told they were mostly for show but Kevin would listen to offers. I would think most pieces will get close to what they would elsewhere (maybe not the Miller, Quesada and perhaps 1-3 others), earlier art on that site rarely got a mention here and everyone is quickly talking about these (only went online last week, I had been checking knowing it was to be in September). Kevin Smith sells memorabilia at his movie theater weekly to raise funds for the theatre. rare funkos, hockey jersey, prints, OA even occasionally so I know he has no problem selling. I'll hope to have one or two at the end, will certainly be previewing to check them out. Let me know if anyone wants a photo or anything. oh, Joe Bodnar seems a nice enough guy but yeah, he's got the look. he has a comic guy on staff who knows his stuff (although I think that guy had a heart attack and may still be recuperating).
