Mike reached out to me today and is doing his best to find my books for me to return and send them out. Seems there’s a lot of negativity from both sides and has caused a lot unnecessary stress. I can confirm that @M_Ndreuhas had his books found by Mike as of today. The negative comments here really just did not help and made me think I would never hear or know about my books ever again. Stuff happens to people. It’s easy to assume the worst. Let’s let the man try and get back on his feet at least before we start kicking him while he’s down in the dirt. There were quite a few people in this thread willing to help out and lend some words of encouragement - and it was pretty much met with derision, venom and anger from Mike. Stuff like this doesn't happen to normal people. It happens to people who are less then genuine, duplicitous and shady.

Hope you get your books back, along with everyone else who is stuck in limbo - but you probably need to start reading from this thread from the beginning, because he's had about 14 chances to get on his feet and "do the right thing" - all documented here.

How did he get in touch with you? 

Can you share his email or phone # with the other victims? 

You can privately message them,  but it seems he isn't responding to anyone else. 

 

How come the negative comments didn't help? They are words on the internet? How do they prevent him from packing and shipping books? Refunding $ ? Finishing work that was paid for? 

I don't think anyone who has followed this would be asking for empathy and understanding. Between the theft,  selling books online,  the threats to people and hundreds of thousands of dollars in STOLEN money,  I feel like empathy has been exhausted. So I'm guessing you are Mike or a plant for Mike.

I think you have it backwards and it was the playing nice and being patient that was not helping.  However, sounds like you now have a contact line to Mike that others don't have.  Since this thread was able to assist in getting your books back, maybe you can pay it forward and take over for @Sauce Dogas chief hostage negotiator for the remaining victims.

I'm not angry about anything, but I believe in fairly and accurately representing the situation. It was likely messed up and damaged, and the way he handled it criminal, but not an intentional long con. 

Is it a distinction without a difference at this point? Probably. But I have never been a fan of revisionist history and even criminals deserve accurate reporting.

I believe he had many customers books for a long long time dating back into that spotless decade.  It just took years before customers got frustrated and started to complain and realized they weren't alone.

I agree with you, this wasn't a long con.  He was very passionate about restoring comics and worked hard to develop the skills he needed.

It is quite odd that, in my recollection of this thread, there are instances of comic books being returned, in worse shape than when submitted, due to the threat or commencement of legal action. Yet, regarding the new poster, all it took for HR to start "looking for" the comic books was basically "please return them." Granted, the comic books may never be "found."

Call me cynical or a realist, but, as countless others have noted, HR's track record, especially recently, leaves no room for the benefit of a doubt.

Unnecessary stress is people sending their valuable books and cash to him and years later finding out they may get nothing back and they nay have been sold or lost.

That’s fantastic that you both are getting your books back. Congrats. It may not seem like it but for two new people to join, post, and immediately get a resolution is nothing short of amazing. Almost ……too much so.

This thread and the comments were virtually the only reason some got their books back. No one was kicking him. Many were offering to help any way they could.

I just wanted to provide a quick update. The forum came through and Mike reached out quickly. He was able to locate all of my books and will be sending back. Press/cleaning work was done on the books. I’m really glad this thread was here.

So the books you're getting back were pressed and cleaned, but Mike couldn't bother sending them to CGC at any point in the past year and a half?  Sorry, I don't buy this at face value.
