Thank you for all that posted your 2023 books!

It was really enjoyable to for me (sure everyone else as well)  to see all the different genres of comics/art everyone collects and acquired.

Since @ PontoonPontoon went with four books, I'll only post two to even things out.

1) A ComicLink win.  My first and only Ohio Pedigree.  Gotta love White Pages from 1945. 
I think I said this last year, but I am moving more into GA without realizing it.

2) Back in early November of 2023, I won a semi-local online auction of about a long box and a half.  All the books were from 1973, although I suspect there were random other comics thrown in from a different, modern collection.  I showed some of the books here.  Here is one of the pics from the auction.

As a 90’s baby I grew up watching both the Justice League, Justice League Unlimited series. Which served as an induction into the world of DC.

Definitely don't have anything near what some of yall have submitted, but here are my top 3:

 

Not the best grade, but I chatted w/ Elijah for a bit about unofficial video game bootleg records and gifted him one, which is seemed genuinely excited about. Super cool dude.

 

I've been on a Godzilla kick lately and this came back a 9.8. Very happy with the score.

 

Paid $150 for this on Whatnot and honestly didn't think it'd get a 9.8.

And now for something a little different. Not a comic book or comic art, but my top 5 comic cards I purchased in 2023! Apologies that the audio is a little low...I'm new to this "content creation" thing.

I know I am a little late to the show, however, I am hoping all will forgive me; I did not see this thread until a couple days ago.  Then I had to consider the OP's request and what would be my "Top 3".  Upon contemplating this, however, I realized that I was going to have to slightly amend @NewWorldOrder's initial request in which he asks, "Show the comic board community your Top 3 Comic Book and/or Original Art purchases for your collection for the year ending 2023!"  The amendment to this will be editing the word "purchases" to read "acquistions".  For me, my top 3 are not books I purchased but rather books that I acquired through friendships.

For many, their "Top 3" are likely the books others have somehow attributed with having a higher "market value".  For me, however, comic book collecting is about the feelings I get when I look at or hold a particular book.  It is not about the "market value", but rather about the personal satisfaction I get.  Sometimes a low value, well read book, will bring me much joy as it brings back fond memories of days gone by.   Other times, a certain book will just catch my eye.  Finally there are those books that others have given me.  These books are perhaps the most precious of all (regardless of "FMV"), because they remind me of the love of others and the bonds formed throughout the years.  Comics books are but paper, but relationships are about people.

I say all this, to say this year I have chosen my Top 3 to be books which others have given me this past year.  They are my top three as I fondly remember those people from whom the books were received.  I will put them in the order they were received (not in any other order of preference).  Please forgive the scanner glare on the final book (in person the book is beautiful). 

The second book was given to me for being awarded one of the "Formite of the Year" awards.  Thank you to the forum for that; I was and am still very humbled by this award (there are so many others who deserved it more).

Well it usually takes me a month or two before I stop typing or writing the prior year on checks, etc.

Oscar was my favorite character on Sesame Street as a kid, so this was awesome to acquire. I'll be framing it soon with some stuff my mom made me when I was young. 

Not sure why this won't post correctly, but I purchased this from Aaron Lopresti. I love his take on Ben.

Another dumb image orientation issue, but this was the first comic book I purchased off the spinner rack when I was a kid. This isn't my original copy but I finally found one that was as close to new as possible.

My pick up for 2023 

 

I know the second isn’t a comic book but was a grail statue I wanted for a bit always loved the 90s animated x men. Grew up on it. But anyways wanted to share the pick up was an awesome Christmas!!! Still have to figure out the display and case and what books to display with it might get some facsimile ones.. or the some of the original ones.

Oh also picked this one up and going to pair with the Spiderman 2 ps5 collectors edition statue. Low grade better than no grade. Might try to upgrade later on.
