I thought I'd spot check ShortBoxed for anything suspicious... A book I posted about on tab 75 is for sale there and should be considered tampered with.  I'm not saying the seller on Shortboxed is Briva3.  The seller could simply be reselling the book that they purchased 2 years ago (see below post).

Seemingly all who shoplift Comics at cons are 60+ year OLD White dude's who subside strictly on Fast Food thus not much of a challenge.

So I posted a more complicated version of this a few days ago, but I am still trying to wrap my head around this, as I don't believe anything in this is a coincidence.

(sorry if this has already been addressed after my original post about it)

 

Before Briva3 removed all his stuff from ebay he had an Uncanny X-Men 266 9.8 MJ custom label up - it looked like this

Upon checking the Cert # - you see it's already labeled a Mark Jewelers, but not a custom label. 
I refuse to believe that anything he is selling coincidently has some type of error on cgc's end 

i.e. not updating the scan for a reholder.

 

So what are we looking at here? Is this skewing a little towards an inside person who forgot to update the scan? my brain hurts.

I haven't sent in a book for reholdering since they started publishing images... Is it a known fact they always update the image when reholdered?  Just asking the stupid question for everyone else.  ;-)

Same registry number, but IMHO the book sold on HA matches the grader's notes and is not the same book in the second link.  The back of the books are completely different; see staining on top of the second book.

Did Joe already catch this one? I don't know, but it sold twice after heritage (2017),  in 2021.  @comicwiz

June 3rd $12,500

September 12th  $8,592.

Be interesting to see if the history can show when it changed.

Since it's looking more and more like an inside job, what's easier to switch, the comic or the label? I would guess the label.

Is Brees the only name you saw on eBay invoice, Paypal invoice and / or the box?

I ask because I've actually seen people use pseudonyms on their eBay accounts over the years. Not sure if it's still possible to do that or not but it used to be a very common practice. Danny Dupcack had a pseudonym IIRC (or several).

It is possible that they're using either a pseudonym or someone else is shipping packages for them?

Sorry for the late reply, this thread keeps going even during xmas.

I paid by credit card as the Paypal exchange to Canada is unfavorable. I looked through the ebay Invoice and there is no address or name as the seller is in the US. I only remembered being upset at the 9.8 with multiple spine ticks, so looked at the box and saw his name Brees, just like @silent06 confirmed, and then messaged him directly for refund. The ebay return label was for DHL shipping direct to their eBay international hub at Glendale Heights IL, which I presume got forwarded to his home in Forest Hills, NY.

Who knows if Brees Riva/Rivas is his real full name. Might be a pseudonym or nick name just like how Richards go by , or Roberts go by Bob. He could be using his girlfriend Brees Riva the flight attendant someone found and using it to hide his true alias

I checked three Witching Hour comic books where I had ComicLink to send back to have the pedigree label and proper pedigree notation put on the books.  All three did in fact get the images updated.

Well, in my experience I had sent a book into CGC 3 times because they kept screwing up the label and it does have the correct scan. I looked at one of the other Gambits he had that was a reholder on an old label and that has the correct updated scan too.
