gonna keep it short

I’ve only been here on the boards since late 2019 but wanted to thank a great community of people here I’ve had brief interactions with over that short time either by posts or the few purchases I made.

I grew up (child of the late 60’s) loving comic books which were a great escape and after many detours in life like many only came back around to the hobby in a more proactive way within the last 5 or so years

i just came to noticed my post regarding beachbum comics was deleted by CGC.  There is still some discussion of it I came to find buried in the following post (at least for now) in another less active sub-forum

If I wanted additional stress I have plenty of other avenues for that than what should be a fun hobby … anyhow, good to have spent some fun time together

I suspect that many will understand where you're coming from here, SO25C. Sometimes, it's hard to ignore what is going on with the company and how it may fall short of your own standards and expectations. But the community here are very separate to the company whose name is above the door. This forum is made up of the people that frequent it - not the company that owns it. We, the members, are what is important. Many of them will share your views and standards. Indeed, there will be CGC employees who share those standards. Stick with those people, would be my advice - the people who have made your experience here enjoyable over the last five years. If you can, block out the name over the door and carry on rubbing along with your fellow collectors and enthusiasts. You don't have to engage with the forum owners to do that

Which means, among other things, there won't be a venue here for people to pool resources and information if things should go full Heroes' Restoration...as things seem to be heading.

IMO there's still too many doing the "well...I'll send them yet another strongly worded email and impatiently tap my foot while I await a response".

My suggestion is you need to stop holding out hope that somehow you might still get the cool books and start doing whatever you can to get your money back.  Otherwise, I think there's a pretty good chance you'll end up with neither.

Just accept that CGC is a badly managed company with serious flaws that happens to offer a fantastic comic forum.  I've no idea why they are defending Beach Bum, at the risk of hurting many of their own customers, but it's on par with most of their other decisions.

I've often considered leaving, but what would it accomplish?

Please consider the ongoing judgment against CGC for words used on this message board that were ruled to be damaging to another business.  If CGC is seen to be fostering disparaging commentary about another business they have to consider the possibility they may be held liable for it down the road.

File a complaint with Better Business Bureau.....seems they have quite a few of them and some people have gotten results

I always thought truth was an absolute defense.

@StillOnly25Cents, I have to agree with @Get Marwood & I. What makes this forum great is the users, and you were one of them. I am not a big fan of the Meta platform, but that doesn't stop me from using Instagram. Take a break from the boards, and, in time, I hope you choose to return. Whatever you decide, you have my best wishes!

Though I don't agree with some of the corporate decisions,,,,,, I do enjoy and value the relationships I have made over the years here on the boards,,,,,,, I don't have to have my collection encapsulated and graded at the moment,,,,, so I choose to wait and see what will be,,,,,,

I could be wrong, but I think the difference might have been that an employee(s) were involved in the commenting not just an open platform where non employees/collectors are sharing and discussing.  I see your point though. They might just be over cautious now.

One could call people that run those type of businesses BUMs.
Sometimes I see BUMs living on the BEACH.

No direct knowledge of anything.  But some folks know about the bodies and some folks know where they're buried. Not saying Dre does or doesn't.  I'm just saying there is a history of threads going poof where that action wasn't taken completely impartially.

I'll give you a hint: it's a 5 letter word that starts with "M" and ends with "oney".  Simply put, Beach Bum's volume exceeds that of the potential customers that would leave the boards.
