Big comic collection stolen

161 posts in this topic

In all seriousness (and I realize that seriousness has NO BUSINESS in this thread), the PoopShoot, com, I mean, Scoop.com article doesn't give you diddly in regards to info about this collection. How are you gonna call crimestoppers if you don't know jack shiite about this collection's contents?

If you had lost your 25-year collection of 25 long boxes, wouldn't you put out a detailed inventory list for people to be on the lookout for? Especially if it's somebody local in Florida, which you've got to assume it is. Wouldn't you be plastering that list of stuff you lost everywhere you could?

C'mon, give some useful information!!! A 25-year collection doesn't mean squat. Did he collect books from the past 25 years only? Marvel? DC? Disney? Harvey? Charlton? All of them? Did he build an extensive collection of Golden Age, Silver Age, or others? Any unique runs, etc etc etc?

Good post, I thought the same thing when I read the article. It's absolutely useless in actually helping to ever find the comics unless the thief is stupid enough to sell all 25 long boxes together.

Actually a mini-van with the back seats out would be able to haul 25 long boxes. Throw a blanket on top of them and you wouldn't notice anything amiss.

Oh yeah, and where are the 25 midgets who would carry them out of the house and into the van without anyone noticing?

True...

The problem with this whole scenario is the bulk of comics stolen. There are only a couple entrances to Keystone and if you're in an unfamilar vehicle the cops will tail you until you leave...you don't mess around in Keystone...just driving through admiring the houses is a pain...

The North Miami area was my old stomping grounds... grin.gif

Of course I this all considering they aren't talking about another Keystone FL...

If you have a collection, are all your boxes full? That makes it hard to put new comics in them right?

I've been consolidating some of my comics and I'm ending up with a fair number of empty comic boxes... so 25 may not be an accurate number of how many they're in now. Unless they were all white non-descript boxes, the thief has probably discarded the original comic boxes. I've got some boxes that you could ID from 50 yards away due to the stickers and graffiti on them. (They were like that when I bought the collection.)

An interesting thread. I think I'll save it. The humor will come in handy, when the next board members collection is stolen.

...yep,..karma comes to visit when you least expect it folks,...

Having recently traded in a van, I was trying to visualize how to stack 25 long boxes. Stacking 3 high....left to right or front to back....etc...

Seems like a lot of weight on those back tires.

Then I thought how out of shape I would feel after loading them. I complain when I have to move one box I can't imagine having to quickly load 25 of these.

To me this story doesn't seem likely. Possible yes, sure anything is possible, but not likely.

I think I'll move my boxes from one spot to another and time myself to see how long it would take.

I'm guessing these books would be in an interior room then moved through a possible kitchen into a side door that leads to a garage then into a van. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
