#40 was the first Silver Age book I ever bought. :cloud9:

Started off with a bang!  Must have been downhill ever since, ,huh?  (j/k!)  It's just my favorite Spidey cover.  I'll likely move the 7.5 at some point and hang on to this beauty instead:

It is a great book. I prefer #39, but as a pair they may be the best pair of covers in the run. And to give you a sense of how long ago that first purchase was, I paid $10 for about a 7.0. Good times.

A sharp #39 is a beautiful thing.  If it had a better background it could be on par with #40, but the flames make the 40 pop (I think).  However, you can't beat the story title of #39...

It was also the first silver age back issue that I bought. Had to be in about 1976. Probably would not have been VG, but I sure did worship it.

Congratulations!  As #160 is literally the last book that I need to complete my 9.8 run, I am jealous for sure.  Can I ask where you got it?

It is at the top of recent Ebay sales.

Romita one told me this was one of his favorite stories because he helped a lot with the plot.  Stan really gave him a lot of room to create this story. Hang on to this one!
