Next up Submitted For Your Perusal is a copy of a Green Lantern 1. Notice the copy that originally sold at the Heritage auction in May 2006 as a GVG copy for

$3107. Look at the book today. Are they the same?? If so, One can only be impressed with the work done on the copy that transferred the book to a very interesting looking VG. Is the book still undergraded? Can this copy possibly become a F of FVF in the next go? It's a good thing that Heritage eliminated most of the books from their archive or we would really be having a field day.

Good eye. I can't tell if anything was done on it, but the spine split looks worse on the "new" one. Again, just illustrates the resub game is NOT limited to high grade stuff.

Heritage got rid of most of the books in their archive? When did this happen?

I will retract that statement as it was a stupid statement. Clearly most of the archives are still in existance. It is possible that few if any are missing. I seem to recall a book that I bought from a third party was previously purchased through Heriitage. The book was bought as a F+ and is no longer on the archives ( I would have thought I imagined the whole scenario but I have my original scan from when I owned it) The book today is floating around as a VF-. I also started thinking that I

saw too few copies of certain books when looking through the archives. That motivated my statement but I might have imagined it. In any event my statement was impulsive and shouldn't have been said. I never thought that Heritage was trying to hide anything but I assumed the files couldn't hold all the info.

Next up.................. I need a bit of help. Many of the guys on this site can blow up pictures and compare books. I remember reading about pedigrees that lost their designation in exhange for an upgrade. Is this one of those books? was this book mentioned before?

4)the horizontal line (printing crease) going accross the "AN" in Batman to the margin of the book.

Thanks for the heads up. We're taking a look at it, and we'll let Steve know if we agree that it's the same book.

no need, same book. This is my biggest complaint about CGC, they no longer note the interior cover quality. The twilight books are notorious for tanning interiors. If I had to guess, the pages are closer to tan. Another good identification. Just looking at the book, it doesn't appear to have had work, but who knows, could just be some of CGCs inconsitancy in grading or continual moving scale. Let me ask this question, how would you feel being the original seller as a 9.0 only to find out you really had a 9.2? Some people imply it is your responsibility to resubmit if you think the book is undergraded and if you don't, it is your fault. My take is CGC grade is +/- two steps of whatever they give it and you had better look long and hard look at a decent scan before deciding to buy.

The 9.0 scan makes the book look nicer than the 9.2 scan.

but how did the upper left corner get squarer?

I was just thinking that. It looks like there is material in the corner that was not present on the 9.0. How would one restore a corner to sharp and renewed color on the old blunted one through pressing.

May not have been missing material but bent over material. A good disassembled pressing of the cover would have revealed it again.

Just an idea.

I thought about that too, but it looks suspicious to me that it could come out that sharp. I spent quite a few minutes staring at that corner on the big scan from Heritage and let's just say that I would think twice before purchasing that book.

I would never have thought those were the same book.

This is a dumb question but is there a buyer premium tacked on to any books won in the October auction? If so I can't see where they spell this out anywhere. confused.gif

No, there isn't. CL only gets a cut from the seller, not the buyer.
