  1. I agree, training new inexperienced employees the finer points of grading while there's pressure getting through the backlog of submissions quickly is leading to problems. A workaround might me to allocate the newer graders to the vast amounts of new, modern books submitted as most will likely be in the 9.4-9.8 range, which are much more straightforward to grade, and let the more experienced graders deal with the GA/SA/BA books. Maybe that's already being done. It could be a workflow issue as opposed to a people issue. A lot of these mistakes seem to be a result of rushing with no quality control checks.
  2. Replenish my depleted E Gerber supplies that have dwindled down during COVID times.
  3. I'm afraid to post anything in this thread in case it's interpreted as off-topic.... Doh!
  4. I was digging through some bins at store today and picked a copy up. But bought it more for the Allred art. Thought I'd look it up on eBay and was shocked. Trying to think why it would sell for $332. First app Dead Girl, there's 3 CGC 9.8's on the census, I dunno... I feel this is more fool's gold than anything substantial (though I do like the book).
  5. I'm not an X-Force guy (nor a regular contributor in this thread), but thought this one was a bit of a shocker: https://www.ebay.com/itm/224699734466?hash=item345125d9c2%3Ag%3AsEsAAOSwjfdhlwmN&nma=true&si=N8lzTyyBM5davOumugFPCetX%2Bbk%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 X-Force 125 CGC 9.8... 22 bids ending at $332!
  6. With all the pics showing damaged books in this thread, I'd only feel comfortable submitting low grade books until these quality control issues are cleaned up. Feel sorry for those 9.8 collectors who are trying to piece together a set on the registry. You'd be taking your chances submitting that last HTF book needed to complete a registry set with all this recent damage being done.
  7. Maybe fix the quality control issues before holding grading contests. Otherwise things are really going to get confusing. Um, 6.0? No, it's a 9.8...
  8. Quality control? Who cares? Let's hold weekly grading contests! That's what the plebs want!
  9. When you got your books organized, it must have felt good. You are the master of your domain, You get to relax and enjoy your books. Always enjoy reading about how others physically manage their collection, like how they're organized and what products are used. But also interested in what method is used to keep track of it all. For me, I use a spreadsheet to keep track of my comics. I know what I have, as well as info like when and where I bought a book, and how much I paid. I don't necessarily know where everything is though. Working on that. I've been contemplating trying out the CLZ app. It looks snazzier than a spreadsheet but not sure if I'd be duplicating work already done. The GoCollect comics value feature would have been a bonus but I understand that's gone now. Still looks great though.
  10. A grading contest in 2021 would've been one confusing tragicomedy.
  11. The E Gerber site is down. Diamond's site is also down. Hope this isn't a foreshadow to something more ominous with the Geppi line of businesses.
  12. While I have control over my collection in a spreadsheet, physical control is another story. I was able to pull books together during pandemic time off last year. And man I had tons of duplicates...
  13. I've tracked my entire collection in a spreadsheet over the last 20 years. But only in the last 4 years or so I've kept a table on my phone that lists issues I need. It's a game-changer for me when I'm in places digging through boxes.
  14. This week the last three months in your collection? I haven't done this in a while. A thank you to @gregreece for this one: ...and for this one: From a local yokel comic shop sitting in a dumpy back issue bin. Huh? I've been looking for a high-gradish copy for a while: These ones were bought from the amazing Doug Sulipa to help close out some runs: Last issue acquired for the full run: Last issue acquired for the full run: Started working on some copper titles a few years ago. Last issues acquired for the full run: This is one tough mother of a book to find: Last issues acquired for the full run: Nearly all issues acquired for the full run (missing #143 only): More local yokel comic shop purchases: And finally, I discovered in FF #94 that before FaceTime, there was Visi-Phone:
