  1. You know what I love about this cover BB...is that the story is actually in the backdrop it has nothing to do with the blonde in the lab coat. Such a great idea!
  2. This reminds me of that Leonardo movie "Catch me if you can". bb It's even possible he read this story. The guy in Catch Me If You Can was a comic reader. Nice stories BB
  3. I think you're right BB...the first thing I noticed when Baker began to catch my eye was that almost every great cover he had was made with some red in it. Great observation! I'm going to diagree with that observation. Chances are that Baker probably had nothing to do with the coloring decisions. I suspect color was done by a house staffer. And red is a good color choice because it's bright and catches the eye. P.S. Thanks for the Mysta scans. Love 'em! Baker did do some of his own inking but it's difficult to say which he did and which he didn't.
  4. I'll be posting some Planets and Schomburgs. I'll be posting with photos but if someone requires a scan, this can be done at a later date. I'm using a camera so I can provide an interior shot. Planet 48 Planet 67 Startlin 27 Startling 46 Startling 51 Startling 47
  5. Me three and there are some books I was very tempted to bid on if I didn't know who the seller was... I have to admit, in the past week or two I've kept checking CS's feedback... wondering what's going to happen when a guy who can't deliver a pack of mylars is suddenly responsible for grading and fulfilling hundreds of golden age comics. Methinks it won't be pretty. Just noticed that Comicsupply has been NARU'd on ebay, and all of these auctions appear to have been voided (again). http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=comicsupply&ftab=AllFeedback I wonder what happened. I was eyeing a great All Tops that seemed to be put up multiple times. I didn't bid on it, thank goodness! But, it did go cheap. It would be interesting to know the full story.
  6. Also, Kudos to Flatrock for the great comics!! Fast shipping too...bonus! Thanks!!!! Joanna
  7. Thanks BB, I've been eyeing this issue. I'll keep a look out for it.
  8. Curious, what is the issue number on the Fury where your illustrations are from?
  9. There are no other illustrations by Baker in this magazine I'd love to know if others have some other magazine illustrations by Baker. The weird thing about this, is we can all see how great his illustrations were. This was from 1957 near the end of his life when his comic illustrations didn't really have the signature Baker style. I'm thinking maybe he just preferred the illustrations where he didn't have to worry about others inking his work. Maybe, he also got paid better for them.
  10. I picked up this magazine off ebay a few months ago. I'd really like to get more of his illustrative work outside of comics. I know the Alter Ego article had some really cool art in it. If anyone has any of these magazines with Baker art in them, please post some! I really thing there may be a strong possibility Baker might have also done the cover since he illustrated a couple of the stories? What do you think? Baker cover too?
  11. Do the interior stories look "Bakerish"? I have a Crown Comics 4 but it's slabbed. I like this cover the best.
  12. Hey BB, this is TR 45. This is the last one in the series. I agree with you about the inker's. It would be interesting to hear more about his health and mental state in the last few years. I just wonder if he ended up getting the raw end of the stick towards the end...sad really.
  13. This is what I was afraid of. I'll probably win mine too and get nothing for it. Mike Same here. Won claim but no funds to reimburse me. So, what happens aren't you still protected??
  14. I was recently lucky enough to stumble onto this gem.. This is one of the more difficult ones to get. I'm thinking maybe because circulation was low due to it being the last one in the series? I also have a some First Love Illustrated Bakers to show, if anyone is interested? The interior is not as nice as the St. John's. He wasn't the inker. If there was one question I'd love to ask Matt Baker's family, it would be what happened to Matt towards the end? It's like his frame of mind wasn't into it anymore. I just wonder why he wasn't picked up by another comic company and why all his great work was just buried under poor ink jobs. What would you ask Matt Baker's family if you had the chance?
  15. I've got this too, interesting read! One thing I wish was that there was more time spent on scarcity of various issues.
  16. Kudos to Pennynike on super fast delivery!! Thanks again!!
  17. High Grade Bronze Romance. I figured before I got these slabbed and of course the price goes up I'd offer a package deal on the boards for 23 high grade bronze romance comics...including 52 pagers...stay tuned.
  18. Surprised you haven't found the Nellie or Love Experiences...I'll keep my eyes open for you too.
  19. Holey Moley Sharon!! You are the queen! This thread would never have been complete without your group shot. So, now, I assume you've also read each and every one
  20. Kudos to Mark (Esquire) for the cute Uncle W. comic! Thank you!
  21. Kudos to humantorch for responding to my WTB add with some great 3-D comics. Just what I needed and much appreciated!
  22. Kudos to Nick for the great Bone comics! Thanks Nick
  23. I was recently able to upgrade this issue. This is one of my favorites in the Baker romance area. So much detail. I'd really like to know what happened to all the OA for St. John. You rarely see any.
