  1. I only wish that his stash file still existed.
  2. Kudos to Bill (Ciorac) for the great Jungle and Jumbo. Thank you!!
  3. I was just looking at some old movie posters from 1954/1955. Some were just as (if not more) provocative as the comic book covers but you never heard Wertham complaining about these. And, I'm sure these posters were seen by children. Anyways, I saw this poster of Marilyn and thought maybe the composition might have inspired Baker. Diary Secrets 30 came out in September 1955 and Seven Year Itch came out in June 1955. So, it is possible he was influenced by the poster.
  4. Fantastic cover. Is it just me (probably is as always) or does this girl look exactly like Juliet Jones' sister Eve? Here's a comparison shot with two drawings of Eve by Stan Drake around the Baker image. The Heart of Juliet Jones started in 1953 and this book came out in 1955 so it's possible Baker was inspired by the strip. When I see this cover, I always think of the movie posters of this time. I wonder if it was inspired from something along these lines. This is also a great comparison about Eve.
  5. I've been visiting Mysta by Baker. I really think these are some great Baker art. I don't think the Baker family has the actual original art from this. The B/W photo in Alter Ego is from photostat of which the family has the entire issue. I can only imagine what the OA would go for. I do wish more people would come out and post the OA they have for Baker. I've heard that the Seven Seas 4 and 6 exist somewhere in someone's collection. And, can you imagine seeing some Phantom Lady OA?
  6. 9.2 and the highest graded the best you can do Great book, George Everyone has an "off" day...even George! West Really nice colors! Great copy
  7. Here's mine, it's kind of a filler until a better one comes along
  8. This is the nicest looking 32 I've ever seen. Really nice!
  9. Those are wonderful pages, congrats Bill! Nice OA. It looks like it has really good page quality too.
  10. That's one you don't see often, if ever. Nice copy. Gerber 8 Didn't realize it was a 8. I know you don't see it that often so that's why I had to swipe this one. It really is a nice copy. I wish all my Giants were in this condition.
  11. Picked up this nice St. John giant. I know it doesn't have Baker but it's still one I really wanted.
  12. Must be one of those situations where the seller primarily sells other types of items, then comes across golden-age comics on the side, and doesn't really know or care what they're worth. Ah well... For all the great deals I've missed, I've nabbed a number of good ones too. I agree with you. I've gotten some good deals as well. It's nice when you find a Baker at a great deal.
  13. This is on ebay right now. It's a pretty cool Baker issue in spanish. Of course, the original is from Record Book of Famous Police Cases. I wonder if the contents have Baker too? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=250535373749&Category=69&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1#ht_1202wt_915
  14. I was really hoping to bid on this one. It was an auction then was switched to a BIN. The colors were really bright and check out how white the pages are...for only $40 someone got a nice deal! TR1
  15. I really like this one as well. This is my copy. I've since removed it from the slab because it was too tempting to see the contents.
  16. During the many years I spent searching for my first copy of Cinderella Love 25, I also referred to it as the "Holy Grail". This is also my absolute favorite Baker cover. In 2003, I finally scored a nice Fine copy on eBay. Then, about a year ago, a local comic dealer friend of mine turned up an amazing original owner collection of oddball, esoteric Golden Age comics. And fortunately, I was one of the first customers to see it and pick out books I wanted. There was an impressive selection of St. John romance comics, including the nicest copy of Cinderella Love 25 I've ever seen. This scan is quite large, but I'll try posting it. In case it needs editing, I'll also provide a link to the image: Cinderella Love 25 I wish there was some of the original art to these great covers. They probably all got lost when Michael St. John had a flood in his basement.
  17. You've got a great collection. I've been on the look out for this issue but I haven't found quite the one I want to buy. I'd like it to be in decent shape and the one's I've seen have been pretty low grade. Do you collect his illustration work as well?
  18. Kudo's to Roy for the great Claire Voyant. Thanks Roy
  19. I'm with you on the 3. I just have a beater of this issue as well. I haven't seen one up for sale except the one I have.
  20. I've only seen one other picture of a copy before. I've been on the look out for this one. It's really difficult to find.
  21. Do you have the APATLS 2 or the Diary Secrets NN giant? Or even Giant Comics Editions 12 or 15?
  22. That's a great copy of the All True All Picture Police Cases. I'm curious where you picked this up? I've never seen one for sale. Really nice copies! I also like your CL28. It looks like it has nice white pages. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
  23. I was able to pick up some really nice upgrades and new additions lately from an auction. Here are a few of these great gems.. I was also able to complete my Diary Secrets run and TLP run. I hope to do a group shot some day So, here are some of the things I have scanned..
