  1. I'm going to frame these. Any of you have any suggestions about what to do with framing OO? I guess I should look and see if this has been discussed before.
  2. Maybe that should be my tag line
  3. I'd love more, if I could find them. We both know how difficult this is!
  4. I finally got two pages of Baker original art....and can I say I'm blown away...to say it mildly. This is my first original art purchase and looking at all the details and to know that Baker personally did the inking on these.... It really is a different experience seeing this in person vs. looking at it in a photograph. I'm so amazed by all the details and the minute inking.....
  5. I went to an auction today and had a really great haul There were also these comic films on reels. I don't know if anyone collects these? I'll have to check ebay to see how much they go for.
  6. Wow, you lucked out getting things from your LCS. Mine wants nothing to do with romance comics.
  7. Great books! I've always liked this issue especially, the oil fields and red sky in the background just make the whole scene that more intense. Great pick ups! I also love this cover too. It reminds me of Dallas.
  8. JACK! OH NO... NO! I love it. Anyone know who the taxi driver is? Looks like a portrait of Hartley or one of his friends to me. Jack Great cover! A lot of details.
  9. I got this awesome comic in the mail today from QualityComix. I have been looking for a YR1 for sometime. I have one of those reprints of this issue. But, it's so much different having an original Thanks Brent!
  10. Interesting stuff Scrooge! I really think Ziff Davis did some of the best painted covers. Baker did two really nice covers to Romantic Marriage before the series ended.
  11. I'd love to hear other "lasts" in Bakers...here is what I know Last St. John, Baker romance cover.. "Secrets of True Love" Last non-reprint(original) Baker romance story St. John (thanks Dukedog for the info) Cinderella Love 14 Last Baker romance (pencils) (contribution includes Colletta). Interesting how long after his death Colletta had this. It would have been published in 1962. This was never published: First Love Illustrated 90 If we look at "last published", I think I would have been First Love Illustrated 89. These are not his best works by any means since they were not inked and penciled by him. I'm not sure what the last issue "inked and penciled" by Baker would be...I'll have to look into this. It's difficult to know outside of St. John. Anyone have any other "lasts" to add?
  12. I just looked up that cover on comics.org. Boy, is that pretty wacked out...especially for a romance comic
  13. In high grade,....a couple of really nice Bakers have shown up on C.Link...but man-o-man they are expensive. I'd love to have them if money were no object. Any of you the owners of these books? Cinderella Love Teen Age Romances
  14. You have the luck! I'm still waiting to find a nice estate/antique find. All I see are over the top pricing on junk You wonder how there are still deals to be had at these flea markets with the internet and Overstreet.
  15. Great way to start! Did you win this off of ebay recently? You'll have to tell us if it is a nice one in person.
  16. http://schulzlibrary.wordpress.com/2009/08/24/congrats-matt-baker/
  17. I'd love to have a nice Baker original art ...one day
  18. I thought the model may have been Linda Darnell (a blonde version). bb I've never heard of Linda Darnell but the way she is posing reminds me more of CL25
  19. Interesting observation. I for sure see the similarities. The eyebrows do have the same characteristics. I know for a fact that Baker looked to photo images for his source work. So, maybe he looked to this cover. The only thing that is a bit different is the shape of the eye lids. I posted this one a while back in the thread... to me Baker used this My Life for source material on the GCE15.
  20. Nice Flamingo! It's difficult to find good ones nowadays!
