I always crack books out, so buying a damaged slab has worked well for me in the past. But this sounds like a no-brainer if you want it in a slab, unless the $125 copy presents worse than this one. Even then I'd probably opt to wait for another one.

I'm surprised that Charlie Chaplin didn't make Hitler's list. Maybe he missed 'The Great Dictator'?

I had a chuckle when I saw that @Marty Mann was posting in this thread. After all, he can remember when people were paying 10c for brand spanking new copies of old comics!

That's awesome. I assume this was an attempt at using 'The Secret' that Oprah was pushing - if you write it, the universe will provide.

You don't need bleed through to have color touch, but I thought it was very obvious in the blue on the front cover. Back cover I would want to see in hand, but I suspect it there also.
Ah, yes, I think you're right. Well spotted.

It's been awhile since I rolled the dice on an ebay gamble. This book came from a 0-feedbacker, seemingly determined to keep that status by shipping this in a bubble envelope with no protection (after promising a sturdy padded box). Nevertheless,
beauty!

Does the color touch affect the value of something like this, or would any coverless copy this was married to already get a purple label?
I think a married cover would get a green label. Where do you see color touch? I can't see any bleed through.

I donated this one to a charity thread here on the boards a while back.

Four Color 29. I have all of the higher numbered Barks DD stories, but this one escaped me and is probably out of budget now.

Great collection your daughter has. I'm sensing a theme here. Is there a Jane Foster Thor in her future?

The Australian editions are digest size? Planet was standard pulp size the whole US run.
Oh, my bad. You're right, that one is pulp sized. I was thinking of this Australian title with the same cover and contents! This one is bona fide digest - it's 13 cm x 19cm (or 5 1/8" x 7 1/2" for those of you stuck in the 19th century )

I can add one to this thread. A UK reprint of US material for the Australian market.

It has come to my attention that a coverless copy of Action #1 was given the 0.5 grade designation back in 2003. Let's discuss it!
There's nothing to discuss. That was standard practice until 2008, when the NG designation was introduced for coverless and substantially incomplete books.

Ah, that tallies, because "an FEH" is incorrect, while "an MLJ" is correct because of the vowel sound at the start of "em".
