  1. I think you hit the key with the seller clearly stating they need payment in x amount of days. That way if the buyer agrees to buy they are also agreeing to those terms. I would add that if the seller clearly states a time frame for receiving payment, they must clearly state a time frame for them shipping after receipt of payment. That is the only way to even things between buyer and seller rights. If the stated time has passed and no paymentis made, the seller has the right to cancel the transaction. If no shipment is made within the stated time, the buyer has the right to cancel the transaction and request a full refund. If no specific timeframes are stated then the 30 day should be allowed. Thoughts? Thanks for discussing this. The above sounds good on a sale where the seller states his requirements. However, what about the shipping ? I have never seen a seller state his shipping timeframe. From my experience most sellers on the Boards are timely but I have encountered some not-so-timely sellers. Can we(the Boards) require the seller to post his shipping guidelines so that I, as a buyer, can decide if I want to buy from this seller ?
  2. There ARE guidelines in the link below and items 6, 8 and 9 address shipping, pricing, timelines etc. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1460472#Post1460472 Also, as reagrds "say you have waited two weeks for payment and simply want to cancel the transaction. Is this a legit act ? " I think if the original terms are not met and the seller is still waiting for payment, they have the option of just cancelling the transaction. Going to the PL is purely voluntary. Same with a buyer still waiting on a book. If the stipulated time has passed with no shipment they can ask the transaction to be cancelled. The PL is to address violations of the Guidelines. So these circumstances should fall under and be included in the Guidelines I linked above. (oh, Gawd!) Pov, thanks for the response and I looked at the link but I just don't see anything specific as to timelines for payment and shipping. Please advise. 6.It must list specific books with purchase prices. It is acceptable to bulk price, and/or to note that package discounts may be available, but you must list a starting price that you WILL sell for. 8.List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. 9.List acceptable forms of payment (NOTE: Personal PayPal payment is NOT allowed as a listed option in your post as it is not appropriate for item purchases.)
  3. POV, I like the revised rules. You put a lot of work into it and you deserve to be thanked. Not wanting to change the rules I do have a question: - Is there a Board guideline for a Board transaction regarding the timeline of payment and shipping ? I recognize at 30 days you can recommend the PL but say you have waited two weeks for payment and simply want to cancel the transaction. Is this a legit act ? Conversly, if you have paid and waited two weeks for the book to be shipped can you legitimately ask for your money back.
  4. Hey Green. Believe me I am sympathetic on this point with you. Just curious, what reasons were given to you by the seller to justify his actions.
  5. OK - I had removed chunkybutt from the PL because he had not been given any time to respond, and jazzman had misunderstood the PL rules and jumped the gun adding him. Now chunkybutt and resurrection have chimed in. I have deleted my Probation List thread that had removed chunkybutt and reposted it with chunkybutt added again, with a notation. The reason for this is that first chunkybutt has had the time to defend himself. But we just found out from resurrection that the payment was via PayPal e-check and is still clearing. So it has not been finalized. So back on the list chunkybutt goes until it has cleared. At this stage it seems that resurrection has the yea/nay on chunkybutt remaining on the PL. That is part of what is being dscussed with the new rules set. But nothing has been finalized there. Hence a grey area. So that is where things stand now. I WILL say this. Both sides had too much jargon/diatribe and not enough simple, hard facts. That is what the PL should be about. Neither side mentioned a paypal echeck until a short time ago.How can that not be seen as important information? If someone comes on here and requests a member be added to the PL, I would expect that topic should be important enough to them for them to say "yes, they sent me a paypal echeck and I am waiting for it to clear" a lot sooner than this. I would similarly expect the sender to say at least "I sent a paypal echeck to cover the transaction". I have not seen either and did some searches. I may be in error here but from what the searches turned up this echeck was never mentioned. What I have seen is a lot of essentially off-topic (for the PL) personal opinions, attacks etc. These just serve to confuse the issue. And if I am wrong in any of the above please point it out and I will acquiesce and apologize (lot of whoop that will do). But when bringing someone to the PL area, and when defending yourself in the PL area, drop the *spoon* and just stick to pure facts. I must commend you on your patience with dealing with all this. More than I could deal with. Your last recommendation seems fair but if Chunybutt's E-check clears I think he should be removed from the list with or without the approval of Resurection.
  6. I just reread Brad's original statement and he said the deal was finalized on Wednesday, the same day you said John got a call that the Seller accepted his standing offer from weeks before. Brad also said the seller sold the books to John for more than 2X Brad's offer. It doesn't make sense that the seller would accept an offer from Brad for less than half of John's original offer. I suspect John's original offer was lowball, the seller struck a deal with Brad, called John whereupon he doubled Brad's offer. Brad was obviousy used for leverage in all of this.
  7. Gorgeous book, congrats. Being that your copy is now the single highest graded copy I would estimate the value of this book somewhere in the 2,000 - 2,500 range. Statistically, it should probably be worth more but there are just not enough WW collectors with deep pockets. In auction, I think the bidding would stop in this range. Good luck ! Thanks Bomber-Man for the estimate. Seeing that there has only been 12 graded by CGC up to this date, it's pretty rare and hard to judge exact pricing. I have a feeling at auction it would go for more but who knows. Would you know how much the 9.2 sold for? Don't know, it's not in GPA. FYI, I own the 9.0 copy. It was submitted by me a few years ago and never offered for sale. The 9.2 was already on the census when I got the 9.0 . I have never seen the 9.2 offered for sale. I suspect it is in private hands and not going anywhere also.
  8. Not neccesarily true. Personally, I love a good confrontation. However, age has given me the wisdom to choose my battles wisely. Like in this example I will accept your reference to me as a low-self-esteem, self-flagellating insufficiently_thoughtful_person and take the high road. You,sir, are simply not worth arguing with. If you don't have enough self-worth to stick up for yourself, no one else is going to do it for you. And we're not having an argument. I'm just telling you you're wrong. With all due respect to Tom Petty there is too much of the 'I won't back down' attitude today. It's not a matter of self worth, it's about trying to live peacefully in a society. I am glad we agreed not to have an argument however I have to ask. Did you really think calling someone a self-flagellating insufficiently_thoughtful_person will not invite an argument ? 'Also, 'we're not having an argument, I'm just telling you you're wrong' is an oxyMORON statement.

  10. Confession time: I have posted in a dead thread without realizing it. I usually like to leave my threads open with anything related to a buy/sell. I just assumed everyone else did the same. Not true.
  11. Chris, trust me, I mean no disrespect. Being local, I actually know you from years ago, when you would set up at the show on Golf Rd or stop into the LCS on Jackson street downtown (Can't remember the name of the store but the manager was Rex). I know you as an honest dealer and a standup guy. However, I fail to understand why you are so vehement in your arguments in this thread. As Sharon said, these are only comics books, and only 50 dollars worth. ?
  12. I think you owe the Resurrection an apology for a brutal reference of his name 'Reserction' ?
  13. Gorgeous book, congrats. Being that your copy is now the single highest graded copy I would estimate the value of this book somewhere in the 2,000 - 2,500 range. 14. I apologize in advance for my forthcoming comments. I really like the Boards, Board members, and I strive to be a good Boardie myself. However, I have to say this. These Boards are a striking example of a good ole boys club, particulary this probation process, as it stands. Trust me, I have been ed over, on occasion, over the years by other Boardies. I have never called out a Boardie on either this thread or any other thread. Why ? Because I recognize the Boards as a good ole boys club. I would get backlash from the 'I partied with this guy, I know what he's about' crowd with bandwagon jumpers soon to follow. Not worth it. With the exception of Sharon, a true voice of reason, I ask my fellow Boardies to give a little respect to the other guy, recognize the process, and don't jump immediately on the bandwagon. Thanks for listening.
  15. I have complete sets of the Topps Hard Day's Night, Beatles Color Photos and Beatles' Diary cards and almost all the Topps Beatles B & W cards. I'll scan and post these sometime over the next few weeks. I also have the Beatles LP's but I don't consider myself a record collector because I buy them to play which of course wears them down. I'm more of a Rolling Stones' fan than a Beatles' fan though. I have a small collection of Stones' picture sleeves, concert programs and the Rolling Stones monthly magazine which came out between 1964 and 1966. I also have nearly a complete set of the A & BC Rolling Stones card set. (thumbs u I am very familiar with the Rolling Stones Monthly. I have some myself. Never saw the Rolling Stones card set.
  16. Hepcat, an awesome collection of stuff ! I love the varied interests. I think we are in the same age group and I share many of the same collecting hobbies as you. Besides comics, I collect some non-sports cards from the 60's. I have a complete set of the Civil War News and Mars Attacks(though my checklist card is marked). I collect vinyl LP's, 45's, and 45 picture sleeves from the 60's. I also collect sheet music and concert ticket stubs from the 60's. I am also a big collector of anything Beatles. It appears this is where we differ as I saw nothing in your collections Beatles related ?
  17. That was a terrible write up. The guy uses the F word in every other sentence. He gets into his own personal problems. I think he liked it because he wanted to like it. This review doesn't make me want to go see it ?!?
  18. That is truly an incredible book. I do hope it is a keeper. You seem like a genuine collector that loves your books. Stay that way. Keep it real. Congrats again !
  19. That's nice but why are you advertising it here, in this thread ?
  20. An 8.0 sold for 15K ! Wow ! http://www.gregreececomics.com/Comics/BRAVE_AND_THE_BOLD_28_CGC_8_0_CR_OW_PAGES_2
