  1. I just purchased a couple low numbered 9.8 Walking Dead slabs from Kevin and I am very pleased with the transaction. Great communication, secure and safe packaging, and fast shipping. I highly recommend Kevin as a seller and would not hesitate to purchase from him again.
  2. Maybe there were only ever 2 9.4 copies, and it took some time for the paperwork to catch up with the reality. I don't understand this. If someone did the crack/press/resub scenario, why would they turn in the old label with the resub ? They probably wouldn't, so how would CGC know to adjust the census ?
  3. (thumbs u Great looking book. I love the date stamp. Any idea what the 'SN' means ?
  4. Sorry but I disagree with the application of the statistics here. The prices for this book in 9.4 were steady at 2600, three sales over the course of a year. Suddenly one sale for 4183 (maybe a potential book), one blimp in the graph, and the averages are skewed. I think Spider-Dan got a good price for his book, take out the one sale and he got well over GPA.
  5. +1, Really nice, even for a Mohawk Valley ! () . With just the tiniest bit of tanning, and even with the huge scan (which exagerates all flaws), the #24 looks like a winner. I'd call it 8.5. In hand it may be a 9.0 . I'd submit it. You can always crack it open if you don't like the grade. In fact, why not use a Collector's Society coupon on all three = for 100.00 they all get graded.
  6. I thought it was the CGC labels that were being switched, something they have now addressed as the labels are more secure. Not saying I would ever attempt it but why even bother trying to switch the book when you can more easily work on the label. Less effort for the same result.
  7. Mohawk Valley hater here to say your SC 22 looks great. I agree with you about the cover colors on this book and the Mohawk Valley in general. I heard the books were stored in a closet causing the tanning and page quality. Structurally it looks 8.0 but with the edge tanning I think the best you will get is 7.5 but for a SC 22 this is a keeper. Congrats.
  8. With all due respect to your books, the Mohawk Valley is the worst pedigree ever recognized by CGC. I had a number of books from this pedigree and eventually got rid of them all. None of them graded well as they tended to have that 'burnt' appearance, tanning and very poor page quality. I picked them up in the early 1990's, before CGC, Internet, etc. Structurally, they often looked good, in the 8.5 - 9.0 range but nothing graded higher than 8.0 for me because of the poor interiors.
  9. Thanks. You are right, it was fast. All but the X-Men (which I have had for several years) were picked up in the last 6 months or so. Never would have been able to do the AF 15 if I hadn't gotten a nice deal on it. Most copies are out of my price range. Well done, very presentable +, congrats. Just curious, did you do much trading in your negotiations for these books ?
  10. I agree, I was the underbidder on Tuesday. I considered bidding again on this book Wednesday but I decided not to participate in any reopen bidding at all. This is beautiful book. I would have been more aggresive in my bidding on Tuesday but it looked a little miscut to me. I now realize, from the above posts, that it is common on this issue. Good info to know.
  11. +1 They are referencing numbers without titles and I think they are talking about FF's but I'm not sure.
  12. Great stuff Andy for a 'junky' value tier (your words) ! If you decide to sell, sell them on the Boards, no outages here !
  13. Fantastic, Bob - glad to see that you're branching out into SS books now You should feel guilty for getting me hooked ! PS Thanks for the advice, I feel good about this book.
  14. Nice books, usually not the caliber of LCS stock. Assuming you are from Chicago, what LCS did you get these from ?
  15. Absolutely envious on this one. That is one tough book to find in high grade and with nice pages and a pedigree to boot, I am in awe. Congrats!!
  16. As always, incredible books Joe. It looks like you are branching out a little ? I don't recall you collecting war, crime, etc.
  17. Sorry, I don't want to start another Brulato thread. I did that once a long time ago on the Boards. I now realize he has a lot of 'friends' out there who will always defend him. Understandable since he spends a lot of money. He did not ripoff Hauser. End of story.
  18. Knowing you already own the 9.6 Curator copy makes it a little easier to purchase the 9.8 . It's also possible he owned a lower grade that he himself pressed into the 9.8 . He will make a huge profit off the Curator copy. He was able to purchase so much of that Curator collection directly from Hauser just prior to CGC at bargain prices by today's standards. Hauser made Brulato a millionare and from what I heard never even bought John dinner.
  19. Sounds like the 9.8 is in the hands of Brulato. The rich get richer......
  20. I agree that B&B 34 is by far the best looking cover of any DC key. However, I like the cover of B&B 28 as a close 2nd to #34. Great cover but a lame storyline. They tried too hard to get all the JLA members involved and given equal time. I remember reading it as a kid and thinking the story was lame but I loved the concept of the superhero team.
  21. This is on it's way from CGC as I write. Not an easy book to find in a decent grade. Although it has the eye appeal of a 7.0, it only got a 6.0. Raw scan....
  22. It is a cool book with decent eye appeal but I can see why CGC gave it a 6.5 . It looks like there are two spots near the top of the FC where there is color loss. CGC hammers color loss. There is also a readers crease on the right edge showing it was well read. CGC does not like reader's creases. That same crease on the bottom edge would not have been treatly as harshly. Along with some spine ticks and a somewhat dirty Back Cover I think 6.5 is about right. On a good day it may get 7.0 but that's as high as it goes.
  23. It's been so long since I read the early issues that this (2nd) episode was totally fresh to me. I really enjoyed it. A faster pace than the 1st episode. Between football, Boardwalk Empire, and now Walking Dead you'll not find me posting on the Boards on Sunday evenings !
