  1. The last Leeds Golden Orbit mart I attended was in summer 94, then held at the university. It got to the stage where I was only finding one or two comics and it wasn't worth the effort. They were at their peak in the early to mid 80s at the Griffin Hotel. Enjoyed those.
  2. I've just finished it a couple of days ago. The Necromorphs are faster, more aggressive and attack in larger groups in many places, compared to DS 1. Also, one of the best-looking games I've seen on PS3 - extremely detailed full HD graphics, nice lighting effects. Excellent.
  3. Here's a link to some public domain Charlton books for you to read... http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=264
  4. Too easy. A very famous vocalist. Used to be in The Smiths.
  5. +1000 That probably IS Liefeld at his best. I'm starting to get anxiety looking at this crud from the 90's.... I would disagree. The one thing that I think he improved on was his line work. He actually started using more of them and thus covered up more of the mistakes 'The detail in Rob Liefeld's art is incredible', it used to be said. That was a way a number of artists were promoted, twenty-odd years ago, above storytelling ability.
  6. Is that the double-page Ronin swipe, or am I getting confused?
  7. In the early 80s I was reading European material in Heavy Metal magazine as well as conventional American super-hero comics, and so for me the learning curve to appreciate Ronin wasn't too steep - despite it being very different to Miller's work on Daredevil.

  9. Part 2... Eccles cakes, Pontefract cakes, Kendal Mint Cake, Uncle Joe's Mint Balls, Hovis. A bit more palatable.
  10. Tripe, cow heel, pigs trotters, tongue, black pudding, pies.
  11. I enjoyed Ronin. I also have the Absolute edition, which is really nice.
  12. Better to wait. I recently picked up the PS3 Amazing Spider-Man game for £10.
  13. I've just finished Sleeping Dogs - open world game set in Hong Kong. It isn't hard, but it is very, very enjoyable. Nice mixture of martial arts combat with gunplay and slow-motion bullet time.
  14. Talking of pies, I did misread Andy's post as 'Greggs' rather than 'Greggys', which was entertainingly surreal.
  15. Wolverine was breaking out to some degree even as early as 1980. I recall a comic mart dealer at that time commenting that there were many collectors wanting every book that the character appeared in. I read the Byrne / Claremont X-Men without focusing that much on Wolverine at all - I just really enjoyed the material as a whole.
  16. I play mostly single player though I play with friends from time to time. You are certainly not tied down waiting on PUGs before you can enjoy the game. Thanks. I thought I'd check first because I got a little caught out when I bought Borderlands, which in single player mode I found to be one of the most tedious games I've ever played, seemingly forever grinding XP to level up.
  17. Is Diablo 3 worth getting for single player campaign mode, or is it designed to be primarily co-operative / online?
  18. He did have some very nice material at the time.
  19. Nice book with some great Garcia-Lopez artwork. If I remember correctly, Bob Smart was one of the organisers of the Manchester comic marts held at Piccadilly Plaza in the 70s. I was around 14 when I started going there, a kid, and he was incredibly patronising. As a result, I bought very little from him.
  20. That's brilliant. Love the way Lego Stephen Morris is pummelling away non-stop on the drums at the back.
  21. Travelling Man looks like it has quite a laid-back atmosphere. Tuck yourself in, read a trade paperback. Nice! They just had a couch a few years back, but things change.
