  1. No? The logic they seem to be using is that the cartoon cards are cartoon images of players… the Space Jam logic… no clue.
  2. The thread was created in response to CSG authenticating items autographed by Michael Jordan. Those weren’t pack pulled, nor manufacturer authenticated.
  3. If that’s the Batman one… that would be CGC.
  4. Scan the cards and view the images under magnification. This will identify the process for printing.
  5. I'm still lost. So does CSG authenticate autographs or not?
  6. You're saying the return (from CSG to you) has been lost, correct? If so, file the claim with the CSG support team. They would be responsible for reimbursing you, and FedEx would reimburse CCG.
  7. Please be aware: Any subgrades, if present, will be removed from the label.
  8. For cards that CSG has already graded that are inauthentic (either unlicensed, such as all Ichiro Suzuki HWB cards, or outright counterfeits, such as all Don Mattingly B/W 1984 Nestle cards), how are they treated for the purposes of the authenticity guarantee?
  9. The top edge would knock it to 8.5. The sides might drag that even further down to the 7.5-8 range. I wouldn’t bother grading that, especially since it isn’t rare. Better off just selling it and buying in the grade you want.
  10. Addressing the end first: I’ve not used CGC. Do they use different holder materials than CSG? I don’t know how I feel about your comment on BVG and CSG. In my experience, SGC tends to over grade vintage, which would make them closer to BVG. SGC built their reputation for grading vintage during their “green label” ownership period, when they were owned and run by CCG (the current company that controls CSG & CGC). The new SGC (black label), which has no connection to the original SGC (other than name), uses non-sequential holder numbering (which makes it easier for graders to sell their own SGC submitted cards), was operated by an widely alleged card doctor, and has no policy against its employees and graders submitting and dealing in cards graded by SGC, relies on the hobby’s elevation of grading status. CSG has hobby veterans on its grading team and backs their work with a grade guarantee. SGC and BGS have no such policies. PSA has a policy in place that is similar to CSG’s. CSG does have a policy in place to charge for cards that exceed a certain thickness threshold, but that is because they use special thick holders for those cards. I’m not even sure SGC would grade those thicker cards, period.
  11. Does CGC have the same grading criteria as CSG?
  12. So, did the items come with provenance from a different source?
  13. With CSG blazing Jordan signed sheets on the home page, does this mean CSG is now authenticating autographs?
  14. A BGS 9, depending on the subs, could get anything from a CSG 7.5-9. A PSA 9 could get anywhere from 6 (due to one sub being low) to 9.5. It’s hard to say without seeing the actual cards.
  15. Signed 10/10 sold for $1200 on eBay on 31 Dec 2022, so figure an unsigned #/5 would go for $400? A PSA 10 #/20 went for $179.50 this month.
  16. I’m surprised that didn’t get a cut designation.
  17. SGC is kind of a waste of time to submit to. I would say that CSG's grading standards may be the best, and they might have the second best (after BGS) holders for protecting the encased card. That said, PSA's registry is far more complete than CSG's. That increases the demand for PSA graded cards. This is reflected in most CU brands vs CCG brands. This leads to higher market demand for CU cards, artificially. However, I think CSG does grade better than PSA, even though I feel PCGS grades better than NGC, so it's not exactly universal.
  18. So, the Registry is based upon popularity? That doesn't make a lot of sense, since it should be somewhat universal... But okay.
  19. Why do HOFers like Joe Nieuwendyk not have card slots in sets?
  20. So, are Space Jam cards also considered sports cards?
  21. What you have would be considered a printer's error. Typically, these decrease a card's value, not increase. The exceptions are extreme errors, such as the No Name Thomas.
  22. Why isn’t Brian Leetch (HOFer and top-three defenseman, possibly greatest scoring defenseman) granted a player set?
  23. Since ProStars was a cartoon, would these be considered sports cards (due to the personalities imaged) or non-sports cards (due to the images being from a cartoon series on tv)?
  24. It probably had to do with the card being autographed. PSA has a policy to not authenticate cards autographed before a certain date, requiring that they be sent through the PSADNA system prior to card grading. This, of course, is stupid, since PSA then requires any PSADNA authenticated card to go through their dual-auto cross-over service… which costs more than it would submitting otherwise. My supposition is that CSG, lacking an autograph authentication division, requires the head grader to accept the card autograph authentication as legitimate. A prime example of this would be the 2001 Fleer Pujols autos or the 1995 Action Packed Jeter autos, since so many cards were issued without signatures.
