The Official The Walking Dead Discussion Thread
kimik replied to MutantKeys's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
He may have also seen the writing on the wall with interest in the comic. Monthly sales have been dropping for a while now. It was only 2-3 years ago when it was a top ten book with over 90K copies sold per month. This is going to hit Image big time. Right now they do not have any other title that can replace it. -
Wan is likely negotiating here. There is a very simple way to deal with it:

Official Canadian Newsstand Cover Price V****** Thread
kimik replied to davidpg's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Did you snag them at a store or a garage sale? Either way, it was a great score. I will have to dig through my boxes to see if I have any early Cherly Blossoms left. I do not have any copies of B&V 320 left, but if I did not sell them already there should be a #322 CDN in the boxes. -

Even though it looks beat, it is still a complete CDN newsstand 1st Cheryl Blossom. Congrats! -
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
kimik replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Agreed, but it is also part of the extremely low print run period for Spawn and hard to find. I started cleaning LCSs and dealers at shows out of the issues from 174ish until the end of the homage coves 5 or 6 years ago. I never completed a full run, and for a lot of them I just found one or two copies over the years. At the Calgary Expo four or five years ago one of the Calgary LCSs pulled out their homage cover backstock and were dumping it in dollar bins. They did not know what they had. -
So Which SA Mega Key Will Surge This Year?
kimik replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
If we go back for a two year run (2017-2019), then I believe it is the clear cut winner with prices up around 3x across all grades. Then again, FF 4 and FF 5 are likely in the same situation. -
So Which SA Mega Key Will Surge This Year?
kimik replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
According to GPA, X-Men #1 in 5.5 just hit $10K, with another sale of $9.600 in April so TOS 39 is starting to catch up. It is interesting to see X-Men #1 at the same level or slightly ahead of TOS 39 pricewise in 6.0 and under, but in 6.5+ TOS 39 has a noticeably higher price point. -

Yup. Batman and Supes both killed bad guys early on. -

Check out the prices on Spawn #174, 175 and #216 as well. They are going for more than #221 now. Insane. -
The Official The Walking Dead Discussion Thread

This thread and the TV show started to drop big time after the TV season opener where Negan clubbed Glenn and Abraham. That seemed to burst the bubble. -

Common drek. Just kidding. Nice score. Was that in Edmonton or one of your other sources? -
MCU Fantastic Four reboot sooner than later?
kimik replied to @therealsilvermane's topic in The Movie Forum
They must have SS and Galactus pencilled into the Phase 2 plot. That makes sense to bring in the FF as well. -
Mostly at the top and bottom of the spine. Bindery tears? Forget it. If there's not a complete semi-circle, front to back, of unbroken paper, it's not going to be a 9.9. And how hard a well known dealer/submitter is willing to fight for it........

+1 I can't stand miswraps on anything 9.4 and up. At NM or better, centering should matter just as much for comics as it does with sportscards.

So Which SA Mega Key Will Surge This Year?
kimik replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Yeah, I don't see where the big gains in TOS 39 are happening. TOS 39 has not really moved much either way since the start of the year. X-Men 1 has jumped more in low to mid grades since the start of the year, and FF #4 or #48 have done better as well. I am sure there are other SA "keys" that have popped more that I am not thinking of right now. -
No, outside of the odd time I miss a tear/stain while quickly counting pages, my books come back higher than expected from CGC. eBay acceptance of your grading means nothing relative to CGC. What was the page quality on the books you got back from CGC? If there are interior stains or even a hint of tanning around the edges on the interior cover/pages then CGC will nail the books.

'Shazam' movie official thread (because he deserves one too)
kimik replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
I love the fact that Thor Dark World has a better ratio than all of the other films on the list except for another equally bad one, Ant-Man and the Wasp. -
Wow. CGC has really loosened things up again on grading. Check out these two "high grade" copies of WWBN #32 in the current Clink Featured Auction. The issues on the 9.4 look like they may be due to a shaken slab/corner impact from dropped slab damage, though. CGC 9.4 copy: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dwerewolf%2Bby%2Bnight%2B32%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1317646&id=1317646&itemType=0 CGC 9.2 copy: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dwerewolf%2Bby%2Bnight%2B32%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1312643&id=1312643&itemType=0

I love seeing collectors/speculators using this app months or a year(s) after books have had their run up and are ice cold. They are happy getting a discount on the book, and I am happy dumping it since it is basically unsellable at the old prices. Just because a book has a 1st appearance of a character linked to a failed TV show/died in a movie/fizzled in comics it does not mean it will hold any value long term.

Giant-Size X-Men #1 - get it now?
kimik replied to Getoutandstayout's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Nice timing. I picked up a couple of new 9.4s last year as well - the latter W page copy set a new GPA high price for a couple of weeks that made me worry I was making a mistake in paying that much for the pages.- 283 replies

We will see with Matthews. The jury is still out on how dominant he will become. McDavid is a generational talent while Matthews is a very good to great one (if he can stay healthy.....). There is a big difference in card values over time - look at Crosby vs Ovechkin (even though I like Ovie better).

Which brand of hoops card is the best one to get for Zion rookies? I am leaning towards picking up a case on speculation. Should have pulled the trigger with Lebron way back when but didn't. At least it only took 3 boxes for my son and I to pull a McDavid Upper Deck Young Guns RC. The only guarantee was one per case of boxes.
