  1. Now imagine the bedlam if there was a finite amount of Chik-fil-A on a given day and you and a few friends bought most of it before they oepened. I'd buy a slabbed 9.8 waffle fry, I think.
  2. I've always lived close to record stores and semi-collected but was always more into comics. The longest line I ever saw for FCBD was maybe a 10 minute wait? Record Store Day this year, the shop around the corner from my house had a line half a mile long. This is in a maybe 500 sq ft shop. A few dudes had camped out overnight. It blew my mind and I had never seen anything like it at a record shop.
  3. If they were able to cut the line, that's scummy but Black Flag seemed to enable that. If they didn't cut and they were pre-sales, that's even worse of Black Flag to not mention that and have people wait around for nothing. Seems the people who were able to either pre-buy or cut the line are definitely not saints, but Black Flag and CGC are looking to be the ultimate villains, here. ESPECIALLY CGC. Geez.
  4. I love coming across a collection where there are large sequential chunks of newsstand books. That's some dedication to make it your newsstand and get your title every month and not miss anything. I never read the full Max Carnage arc when I was buying from the grocery store because I missed 2 issues.
  5. Not sure if this has been updated but originally it was mentioned that the "influencers" were skipping the lines and buying the books before people who had been in line were able to? Has this been confirmed?
  6. Yeah, but how about 25% off that one outlier sale that was the GPA low for the year?
  7. I'm not in a position to judge Spaceballs without bias because I literally wore the VHS out as a kid. I love that movie even though it's realllllly cheesy in parts. The Tier list is: The Producers>Blazing Saddles>Young Frankenstein>History of the World>High Anxiety>Silent Movie>Robin Hood MiT. Spaceballs floats in and out depending on how nostalgic I feel. I never saw 12 Chairs or To Be or Not to Be so who knows where those fall. P.S. Blazing Saddles is a GREAT movie but it's really hard to rewatch. The editing on that movie is glacial.
  8. What's the matter Colonel Sanders? Chicken?
  9. Had you ever watched a Mel Brooks movie before?
  10. @fastballspecial Check the Sandman w/ the newsstand sticker.
  11. Update your Superman/Action list! I have a pile that I need to get the hell out of my house.
  12. So impressed by your commitment to that focus. Rad stuff.
  13. Dig it...It's not exactly a data point that means much. Yes, Inventory is always added and I have a rep of having pretty damn good $5 boxes. Plus things that aren't hot anymore get moved into the bulk boxes. To the bolded part: Yeah, that's what's happening. Since prices are falling, the volume of sales is falling. What was a good buy last year at $5 is now a questionable one. Sort of. In FL, small indoor shows have been going since early 2021 (probably before then, too. I didn't get back to the state until March 2021). During the 4 month time frame, 2 small shows happened and both had VERY few comic vendors.
  14. Here's a selling anecdote: I've had 3 garage sales over the last 4 months heavily advertising comics. The first one in April was PACKED. Had people waiting for me to finish setting up and sold $600+ in $2 and $5 books. The second one was mainly comic focused and I had added at least a long box of new $2 books and a short of $5 books. I had 2 people all day and made $50. The one I just finished today (with way more books added) had about 4 comic buyers and sold maybe $75 max. I'm also noticing that when I go to garage and estate sales with comics, I'm not seeing a lot of the dudes who were going hard in late 2021 and early 2022. I'm showing up 20 minutes early and I'm the only one there for comics. Places that used to have decent competition between people digging are turning up more and better stuff. I think a lot of the people who were fair-weather comic people are either jumping ship or just slowing down as sales do the same. What that all means?
  15. If you can block out the noise of malignant comic people, Comic Book Group has been the best for selling. To spend the least amount of time for the best returns, I'm not even grading or scanning the books. Just taking a picture with my phone of the front cover in the bag. It goes against everything I usually do on eBay and here but buyers on FB don't seem to care as much. As far as requisites, they ask a few questions to join the group but approve pretty much everyone. Only had 1 person not pay but it happens.
  16. I'm selling things daily but no where near earlier in the year. Regarding the $4-$8 sales - I've starting not even bothering listing books unless I know I can get $15 or more. The time to ship out a $5 book with fees just isn't worth it. Instead, I've been doing $5 sales on Facebook groups and have been doing much better. Basically, anything that would sell for $5-$12 on eBay gets blown out on FB or at yard sales in a $5 box. The few times I do list things for $5 is very old inventory that hasn't moved but still has slow sales in the $15 range. I'll make those $5 starting auctions and whatever sells, sells. I'd rather turn over inventory and get a smaller cash flow to make buying better books easier.
  17. 1st time I've ever found a DD380 in the wild and keep finding these hologram errors.
  18. Went to a new Antique Mall today that had been advertising comics for a few weeks. Mainly a strike out but I could tell I missed good stuff by taking so long to get out there. First time I've ever found a DD380 in the wild and just keep finding these hologram errors.
  19. I'm not sticking up for CCS when I say this: Take 90% of what comic YouTubers have to say with a grain of salt.
  20. It's like a minefield of sussing out who hates these things in good faith, who has decent or bad taste, who's a boomer bigot, and who's some combo of the others.
  21. Assuming in was an older book? If they had it graded for you, It's probably in the year+ long TaTs for economy tier at CGC.
