  1. How dare you buy something you want & enjoy it. Don't you know you're supposed to be a sideline critic here?
  2. We made it to page 10 without the speculation.
  3. Who are you and what have you done with greggy?
  4. Agreed entirely on those. Here's a few others to consider. I really like the Two Fisted Tales you included, it gets the psychological aspect of the horror of war. 19 & 22 would be good additions to the list as well.
  5. War Fury 1 needs to be above GI combat 1. GI in Battle 2 is pretty gruesome also. I'll have to get on my laptop and go through scans. War 11 & Battlefield 6 come to mind also.
  6. A lot of Farrell war books have US soldiers being killed. GI in Battle 8 has one with a bleeding hole in his head IIRC.
  7. Wow. That's pretty terrible.
  8. Careful, someone's going to accuse you of foisting undisclosed restoration on people. (BTW, great thread )
  9. In many cases assigning a grade is just providing a reason for someone to argue pricing. At least in person.
  10. Theories imply there is some rationale or evidence behind what is being theorized. To just throw out random uninformed opinions about people's personal lives and livelihood is a different story. Especially when you do it ALL. THE. TIME.
  11. I've got to think it's a typo. VG+ typed as VF+. Otherwise... yeesh. I've only ordered a handful of raw books from HA over many years. My experience is that they're almost always overgraded at least a smidge.
  12. Most issues aren't hard to find, but in grade they're extremely difficult. In VG they generally don't bring more than $10-30. But in true VF can break 4 figures depending on the issue. Most people who collect them do so for the interiors at least as much as the covers, so it's not only often not worth it to get them slabbed, but often contrary to what the buyer is looking for. But in honesty, if all the HG copies were graded the census wouldn't look all that different. They're near impossible in grade.
  13. There's no convincing you. I should have just stopped after your post about how CGC can't be trusted with their PQ assessment, but I held out a sliver of hope you might respond to facts and reason. I appreciate you showing me that I don't need to bother.
  14. I'm going to include a note with my check next time informing them that they have to ship in 7 days or I'll charge interest.
  15. I can't tell if you're being obtuse or dense.
  16. I made it through a quarter of a box and stopped because of how common it is to see this type of defect at the staple. These are from old label holders or never certified. I know the ownership history of most, and represent books from Church, Larson, Lost Valley, and 2 other small known OO collections. I was going to show some SFs also, but it became obvious that it wasn't necessary. None have been pressed. Again, if you haven't seen this, you simply haven't looked.
  17. How about one that I cracked out of an old label holder and is a top tier pedigree?
  18. No, I understand what you're talking about. I've been collecting GA for over 30 years. I've seen a LOT of comics. From low grade beaters to perfect mint pedigree books. I've collected long enough to see a ton of books pre-CGC and pre-pressing era. I'm also really vocal about what I see from CCS when I can be certain they caused the damage. But NONE of the wear, including the staple on the Cap 46, is out of the realm of what can happen with a book being handled normally. To reiterate an important point, 9.8 is NOT the norm, but rather the exception. We should EXPECT some wear on all comics. To assume that any wear happened only from pressing is really not reasonable.
  19. Very common. Again, if you haven't seen it, you aren't looking.
  20. So in this case pressing reversed impacted staples?
