Did anyone pick up the Stalin book in the Heritage auction. The caption said it was a Gerber 7.

 

I was watching it, but when it crossed $1,200 I bailed. It's uncommon, but not nearly as hard-to-find as Blood Is the Harvest or America Menaced. Census shows 19 copies slabbed. I've got two, a 9.4 and a 9.0 copy.

So how about non superhero stuff. What are your favourites ?

Some of mine are obvious ones like Suspense 3, Fantastic Comics 3. Pre-hero stuff like Adventure Comics #'s 27 and 30, Tec 17. Sci fi stuff like Planets.

I don't own any of the above mentioned books but if you do, share em or share your favourites

I felt like I had to make one final statement here before I got off for the final time. I want to thank the support from all the people I have dealt in the last few years. I also want to thank the friends I have made and met at conventions but I have decided to take a leave of absence for some time to think. In that time I will think about coming back here or not. I will make good with Matt and get him a book for a price he will be pleased within time but after that who knows. I guess after all the good deals I have done in the past meant nothing. It really is "what have you done for me today" that matters. It is fine. I accepted the bashing. I just wish that some of the on going witch hunters to please (at least) keep out of my personal family business. My personal family problems arent anyones concern. And I do not think that it should be posted for everyone to see. Matt and a few of my personal board member friends only know and hopefully it will stay that way. And please for the last time stop any finger pointing at Bat-Man because he is a good guy and really had no clue what was happening. Let the guy be so he can enjoy the hobby he grew up to love and be able to post freely with no harrasment. I guess if there are people who need to be in contact with me can either email me or text me in order to get in touch. For some of my buddies who have my email feel free to give it to anyone who wants to get in touch with me as well. I will check on any pms tomorrow and that will be it. Take care everyone

No offense, but Matt won't send you another dollar no matter what kind of book you have. Never in a million years.

 

Both sold for $38,000 in August of 2009. ( I know which one I would pick in 1/2 of 1 second, and it wouldn't be the Adventure ). But....this thread is not about me, it's about you! So......which one would you choose, and why?

 

Archie #1 in a nanosecond. Much rarer book, much cooler book, and if you are into the value side of the hobby, better upside.

 

The grade thingy in the corner is of no moment to me when comparing these two books

Bat-Man (Alex) stated in a GA thread he had three copies of Tec 37. I'm sure he can live with only two copies

One question for Bat-Man(Alex) -

You have removed your newly acquired Tec 37 from your sig line. Why ? If you feel shame for owning it perhaps you should sell it to Matt as others have suggested.

It sounds as if you had no wrong doing in this transaction and as stated in the GA section you said you owned three Tec 37's. If you feel bad enough that you had to remove the Tec 37 from your sig line perhaps it should be offered up to Matt.

Wow. Clearly the seller is in the wrong. Probation list....hall of shame....who cares? Avoid that seller from here on out. Total move.

I'd like to see a pic of this Tec in question. Sounds like it was a junky POS anyways. Seller probably did Matt a favour by being a weasel.

Instead of reading every page can someone tell me what was the explanation Yannis gave for selling this comic to Bat(Alex) while Matt had a deposit on it ?

Yep, that's the excuse he used.

 

His ebay id is silversurpher. Oddly enough, his "I have sold well over 4500 books this last year alone on Ebay, with well over a thousand transactions" claim doesn't seem to really hold water as well.

I like the fact that all his listings proudly proclaim:

 

"EBAY POWER SELLER SINCE 1999"

 

Yet he's not an ebay powerseller.

I like the fact that all his stuff is ridiculously overpriced and his raw auctions all include CGC in the title and his Brave Bold slab has Neal Adams in the title but has Jim Aparo art etc etc etc

Is there anything wrong with buying a book on the boards with intent to flip - and is it somehow offensive to offer the book back to the boards at a steep mark-up?

But to de-slab a 8.5 that was pressed,and then crack it out,and sell it raw as a 9.2 with more "work" obviously done to it,and disclose none of it,YES.

And at 4 1/2 x's what it sold for here slabbed.

 

I didn't really see anything wrong with anything the guy did until he just up and lied about it.

They're the same book. There is zero doubt. To try to convince anyone that they are different is insulting.

 

Man up and get it over with, Frank. The sooner you do the sooner everyone will forgive you.

Frank just told me in a Pm that he sold the CGC slab at Wondercon

I don't think Frank cares about this situation or just lacks the cojones to fess up

If he ignores it long enough maybe it will go away
