Thats one thing that irks me. I don't think any dirt or foxing should be allowed at this grade at all. It should be NM+ and not contain traits of a NM or lower grade book.Looks over graded to me. What are those dots near the door ?85k and it has OW/W pages.
Dirt or foxing, either way, CGC consistently allows it at this level when it's that minor. There's nothing wrong with ow/w pages.
Yes OW/W is not a big deal but lets say I had this kind of money to shell out on a book I'd hold out for white. These collectors want the best attainable right ?

Post some pics of the books.I'm not quite up on my technology, I actually have no idea whatsoever of how to get pics of my books on here, without spending a bunch of money I really don't have on a new camera or a scanner or some such. When I can do it I will.

Post some pics of the books. My two cents:I'm new here, I read this whole thread, it was illuminating. The first guy, I'm thinking that's what OP refers to, had a concern to which the first couple pages or so of replies were addressed rather reasonably by several other people. The OP wouldn't or couldn't accept any of the explanations and continued to hold onto his opinion but expressing it in ever stronger and more over the top tones until he was in a full blown rant. He may have felt ganged up on and just gotten defensive about it and lost some control. After a few more pages of replies of mostly people making fun of him he did more or less apologize but the other people seemed to not see that and just kept piling on. That's when I started feeling a little sympathy for him.
The reason I started reading this thread in the first place is because I just got back the first two books I ever submitted to CGC and was disappointed with the grades assigned to them. I thought because I had bought the books myself off the newsstands and comic book racks of local stores and stored them away without ever opening them much less actually reading them that they would come back with NM grades, not the shockingly low in my opionion 7.0 and 9.0 grades given. After reading this thread though, I understand more about why they didn't get the higher grades I had hoped for and accepting the lower grades they got is a bit easier now. I still hope that the other 8 books I submitted will grade high but if they don't I will just accept it for what it is since it has been made chrystally clear that CGC knows what it is doing and is the accepted standard in this hobby.
Thank you to everyone who posted in this thread.

Didn't realize till I got home it was the Kurtzman file copy
I swiped these pics of it from Heritage. It is in a new holder now without the file copy designation but the "Property of H Kurtzman" on the back made me figure out what had happened.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking I'd start my scamming right around post 8250.I don't think a certain number of posts makes a person any more or less trustworthy. -

It had some pretty violent interior stuff. Japanese soldiers being burnt alive and panels of them killing themselves.

great story
how many books would you say are n your collection in total?
Hi Swapto,
I'd say around 23,000 give or take. Not many compared to some but they are nearly all pre 1980.
We need some pics in a new thread Especially of those Mile Highs
