  1. One high grade key for me. That being said though, I'd trade my entire collection for a mid grade key if it something I really loved.
  2. Agreed. My non ped 9.2 looks better and I bought it for about half that amount this year. That being said, I put in (in my mind) a very aggressive bid and wasn't even close.
  3. Well, the Fantucchio's went for stupid money. A very nice looking 9.2 227 for $2,001.00. I thought I went aggressively at it and got smashed like a grape. Oh well. 9.4's aren't going for that!
  4. I find it interesting that it was mentioned the book was on the rise. I haven't paid much attention to the last year sales, but I noticed the book had actually gone down on a few of comiclink's auctions in the 9.2 and 9.4 range in the past 2 years. Of course, they don't report to GPA. I've never "needed" to have the book because it is a parody and frankly, the cover doesn't do anything for me. As mentioned the story blows, too. Don't get me wrong, I'd buy the right copy if the price is right, but no infatuation for it like 227, 232 and 251.
  5. I hear you. For the past 7 years I've concentrated on Adams books and a few PCH books. I had a few of Wrightson's sweet covers from the Swamp Thing run, but never the "biggie". If I didn't pounce on my perfect copy when it became available, I'd never get one.
  6. Hmmmm, I don't know Tim personally, but I suspect he accumulated much of his collection when he was in the states. Eagle eyed best copy available. Like I said, I don't know for sure, but that would be my guess.
  7. Spectacular copy! I'm glad you're paying for it and I'm just admiring it.
  8. I kick myself for not picking up a copy in the past 8 years. If I didn't bite the bullet a month ago, I'd never get a nice copy with the way it is moving up.
  9. I remember that 9.4 sale on the Link. It must have sold in less than 10 minutes. I remember seeing it and emailing a friend to see if he had snagged it at that very attractive price. 3 grand is more in line with a 9.2 (or a very nice 8.5 old label) which just sold in CC's last auction.
  10. It could have been graded last week. In the past, CGC has had a little bit of a lag in updating the census.
  11. What's the R in the comments stand for? Restored? I didn't see universal in the description. As for the the 4 4.0's go, unless it is the same seller of all 4 copies, I wouldn't want to compete with this many like-graded examples.
  12. Yes, when I followed their auctions they had both slabs and raws.
  13. I haven't followed them lately, but in the past 3 years I have seen quite a few overgraded raw listings. I stayed clear of them. They used to get very high prices, which baffled me.
  14. Agreed, the store stamp likely had no impact on the grade. Rust, yes.
  15. It may not be a 9.8, but it looks pretty high grade to me. And wonderfully centered. Beautiful!
  16. Hoarder! I finally picked up my one keeper copy recently. Should have done it years ago.
  17. Actually a month or 2 ago a nice 9.6 went for 15K plus on the Link, IIRC. The centering was perfect but it had less than W pages, unlike the Fantucchio copy. I don't know where the price is. A beautiful 8.5 goes for $2,900 today, the last GPA for a 9.2 is $3,100.00. Last GPA for 9.4 is $4.500.00. The key for me are nicely centered copies, they will always get top end results Not plentiful either.
