I read a book about the first comic con in 1964 in NYC. In the appendix of the book were several price lists of dealers present. I believe AF15 was selling for 25$ then.

As always I could be rembering wrong. However, if I'm remembering correctly and it was priced at 25$ then wasn't that  a bit of money, point being it looks as if AF15 was pricey out of the gate

I'm at the cottage right now and don't have access to my early Overstreets.  There is no way that $25 was the case for AF #15 in 1964.  Maybe double its value at 25 cents.

But then hen again I could be reasoning just as wrongly as you are remembering ;)

Nice! I've got 5 HG copies of the #1 Eternals 30cent variant. I see there are no SS on the census... What is Stan charging these days? I am certain that they are all better than 9.0 and probably in the 9.4 range. Would the SS route be viable for a couple?

Question: I plan on submitting the 30 centers, should I send them all in at once, or scatter them out? I ask because I've had mixed results sending in multiples of an issue. (shrug)

Both of my two 9.9's I got when I submitted multiple copies of the same issue, so I'm a proponent of it.

    1. I've turned off returns as I don't want to deal with buyers that pull this kind of junk, I won't make that mistake again.  There is a difference of accepting returns and the idea of "price matching" I'm not Walmart, Amazon or a freaking grocery store, selling cans of pop.  Maybe I should start buying modern comics that are hot and then when the value plummets cause the train is onto something else I should look to return them to the seller.  You only offered the "restocking fee" after you got called out here and to try and save face, just like you changed your story from cheaper to family emergency when you realized that was a silly reason as well.

    2.  Of course return shipping would be on you.  It's not my fault you don't want the book anymore.

People will be looking to do that with AF #15's real soon, never mind moderns. ;)

  5. It probably doesn't help either that wrong information is being sent to GPA in regards to sales figures.

i just learned today without a shadow of a doubt that a recent sale of an AF #15 is now reflected on GPA at a sale price, higher than what was actually paid.  I'm not sure what the end game is, but there is at least one example of it.  Hopefully just an isolated incident.

Why would Bob Layton have a photo op?

I was thinking the same thing myself.  Went to Motor City yesterday with our own Iceman, and then Nickel City today.  I felt so sorry for Austin and Alex today at Reece Comics.  A million dollar inventory, and the place was a ghost town for anybody looking for collectors comics.

CGC can you please fix your online submission portal

You posted this thread back when you launched them and got a bunch of feedback:

However nothing was fixed.  There have been several issues known on the new forms and since we get the pleasure of being charged more if we don't use them can you please look to fix them prior to that.  I've reported issues through their online submission, voiced issues here, and spoken with Brittany however we are still spinning waiting.

    Here are some issues:

The submission center doesn't work - Rob posted several videos in the original thread showing this.  He is NOT the only one with this issue.  It's not solved!  Just because it works on your end doesn't mean it works for your customers.

Shipping calculation - for those who are lucky enough to get further in the form its not working to correctly calculate shipping when using their own account ($0.00).

Prescreen  - been some murmurs of pre-screen not working properly for some.

I'll update this thread as more weigh in with their issues.  Let's get this fixed please.

But does the Submission Centre work...that's the more important question?

Spider-Man is the king of silver age heroes.

BTW, The print run argument has nothing to do with AF#15. It is all about demand and #AF's demand is thru the roof!

Spider-Man will always be an iconic character, especially with the Disney machine behind him.

Absolutely...and no one is disputing this and has been the case since the mid 1970's...but what people want to know is why in 2017 has this doubled?  Why has it doubled in a five month period in 2017 when it hasn't since 1962???   That's the million dollar answer.
