I'd ask around in the group below if you're on FB. Not sure what they're from, but the bottom one is kind of cool https://www.facebook.com/groups/734128283330197/

I did the dirty and put in an order. how long before we start the thread about when we get responses? I put mine in about 18 hours after it started. I'm guessing i'll hear back around middle to end of Feb.

Dan, i think i'm just going to stick with believing the guy who has no knowledge of the market, but is positive of the "Facts" he made up in his head. <sic>

I think context is really important here as well and crazy prices are justified. These are simply the best cards in the game we're talking about. It's not like comics where some people's favorite is Action 1, TEC 27, GSXM1, DKR, some it's Watchmen, some it's Superman 75 some it's... ect, ect. The power 9 are all of them combined, with the lotus and mox's standing on top of that pyramid. There is no debate. for the last 30 years these have been the most sought after, best cards in the game. Any M:TG player knows these images like the back of their hands. I think a good way to put their importance into context is to listen to the indicator episode about M:TG, it really broke down why Magic broke all the molds and made something unique and special in the marketplace. https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2018/12/26/679311116/episode-609-the-curse-of-the-black-lotus

This is not an issue with success. I know for a fact if spencer wanted to, he could have a lot more artists in his stable. He's been doing this for a long time and there have been public comments (either through him or or people that know him well) that he is slowing down his OA business.

The Artist's Choice Sale has started
Pete Marino replied to jjonahjameson11's topic in Original Comic Art
I think this is a great summary of how I feel about spencer. If he's had what I wanted, he's never been anything but professional. Great packaging, never said he has something then "whoops". my personal fustration is spending hours sifting through the site (because you need to find your own images to a lot of stuff) to find out it's all gone. When I've bought from him online and the stuff is there, he's great, buying at NYCC is great. Dealing with his site, it's a nightmare and a time sink. I think it's perfectly valid to state this to anyone who may want to buy something in this sale, don't expect quick responses, and don't expect a lot of it to be there before the sale, much less after you wait in line to see if it's been purchased by a previous email to him. -

One of the pages I wanted to ask about is in the featured Comic Link auction that starts next month, I guess I don't have to bother with that one. -
Cadence Comic Art - No response after purchase?
Pete Marino replied to bigcbass's topic in Original Comic Art
Last time I heard from Paulo, he said they were moving studios. So I'm sure that's a big part of it. Before this year, I always found him organized and prompt in responses. -
I think if you're going to split art up it should be in easier to differentiate eras, based on how the art was produced. Double-up era (i don't know exactly when they transitioned over to 1.5 up) 11x17 with hand lettering on the page era and then around 2000 when they moved to digital lettering

It's amazing what Scott Williams' inks will do for someone's art...

Fun as always. Some amazing art in display this year

Can we at least agree that he's grown as an artist? I see feet and 0 pouches. He's at least tracing better artists drawing better now from that standpoint.

Sony's SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE (2018)
Pete Marino replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
I took my 6 year old, it might have been a little too intense at times, but she was fine. And she loved it. -
there are no mattes, so you see the whole page, no cropping. There's 2 sizes, one for double up, and one for modern size. Not the best pics, but here are some old ones i found on my laptop of stuff I've put in them over the years.

Man, Tom Holland does not look like a high school kid anymore. He looks closer to 30 than 16 now. In SM1 and IG it didn't stick out as much. But in this trailer it's going to take a lot of pretending to believe that dude is still in school (or he was just left back a few times)

Does Heritage "production art" scare you off the same?
Pete Marino replied to RabidFerret's topic in Original Comic Art
If i saw the word production art in the title of a listing, i'd assume it's all production art and just move on to the next lot. IMO, it's a huge negative to have that in the listing, since that's not the selling point of the lot. I think you'll lose a lot of people quickly from even entertaining the thought of bidding on it, much less clicking through to read what's written about it to find out the details. -

ORIGINAL ART TO SELL ,COMIC CONNECT OR COMICLINK?
Pete Marino replied to zeezee's topic in Original Comic Art
Start with heritage imo. See what they say for value, see if they will knock off some of their fees. If they won't, then go to comiclink. -
Grail Piece Finally Acquired-ROM Spaceknight
Pete Marino replied to DeadpoolJr.'s topic in Original Comic Art
I think it is a non-issue. it's outside the main art area, at the bottom of the feet. even outside the published area. It bugs me when it's scrolled across the top of a panel on top of a character's head or something. If this was a cover, and he put his sig there it would be A-OK. I think that's why it's not an issue to me.
