  1. but is it really a flip? What's the new asking price?
  2. Thanks, from what I saw, I assumed there wasn't any discounting in general. I was happy to find a piece and it fell squarely into your selection category description. There is art at all price points but you do have to be consistently on the lookout and keep grinding for those opportunities.
  3. Bought a piece that was discounted nicely. I missed the announcements on this event - was there any ask or expectation that the pieces would be discounted in any way? Or was it just another way to get art in front of people for sale?
  4. This Ted Latner is very active on FB comic art groups and is from NY. My keen detective skills tells me you might want to ask him. https://www.facebook.com/tlatner
  5. Did you ask? I have emails from further back than that.
  6. First time reading this thread - fun stuff. Was all of this research ever compiled/published? I'd love to read it! Thanks for the bump!
  7. Excellent! I have a couple pieces of his and his named came to mind immediately when I saw the art. Thanks
  8. Linework on Surfer made me think of Shelby Robertson. Sig looks like a possible match as well.
  9. That's about a good a lead as your going to get. Good luck with the chase!
  10. Interesting topic for sure. I am primarily a buyer and can't get my head around bidding on something I don't want to buy (as in a collector bidding to push up price but hoping not to buy?). I have learned to go for the pieces I really want and hope the ones I don't want as much stay low for comp reasons. And we have really gone on a tangent here ... back to regular programming.
  11. Maybe I have done this as well ... but my intention has never been price protection. If there is an artist/series/etc. that I collect and the price is below what I would pay, I bid up to the point I would be happy to win the piece. If I win, great. If I don't, I didn't want it bad enough at the asking/auction price.
  12. I will echo this comment. I was that newbie collector more than a decade ago who bought a (supposed) Kirby Thing piece and Glen provided valuable guidance on the error of my ways, which helped me to return the piece and get my money back. Thanks again @glendgold!
  13. That was my response as well. Glad I picked up my McHulk a while back. I was considering trading up but I am not sure any more.
  14. Slow down in 2020 to divert funds to other priorities. Still pick up art that I love at lower prices. Saying this means that a pricey true grail will come along as available and blow up this plan. I am good either way. Let's see what 2020 brings!
  15. People have been paying me to remove SB art from their collections. I continue to do this difficult task for any of you out there that need to purge.
  16. Agreed, I would love more on the backstory @glendgold
  17. 25% BP had me wary of the auction from the get-go
