  1. Not long, now that you said something.........seriously, Heritage is very good about this type of thing. It is worth being visitor to their platform. Your interest is noted by them. Bidding now and then also reflects interest. I received catalogs for as long as 4 years. I asked that I be removed from the mailing list. 2-1/2 years later, I emailed I would like to be put on the mailing list. Heritage renewed sending me catalogs.
  2. Giving special labels for such things cheapens the Brand. It is not necessary, it is a stupidmoneygrab. It is sort of disappointing that CGC would do this, and labeling it early release to boot, as if there is gold in them hills, is legitimizing a monetary importance to something that isn't. Sheesh. Even Franklin Mint would pass on this. From time to time this same type of thing has happened with supposed numismatic pieces. It is not necessary and adds noting to the collecting community, and misleads the unknowing new collector that would be trapped by these types of baubles. I would expect CGC to have more respect for their audience and collector base. Maybe I should send my old Chuck Taylors to CGC that my girlfriend had drawn Mighty Mouse on (in color) and hope for a 10.
  3. I just want to know who the Shenanigans are. Did any of them marry any of the Kardashians?
  4. It does and it is, and is passive in nature, as to when to receive the best economical return, thanks to the Internet and ESPN.
  5. I understand, your position. Discovering the definition of a 4PG is quite simple. You have been given one example, by another member. The entities being discussed..... TPG AND 4PG .....exist for profit. The entities make a market, offering a service to establish some semblance of legitimacy and equality. The entities would not exist if the hobbyist did not want to pay for information (relevancy) that supports the hobbyist's perceived need ($), of that which the hobbyist collects. I think we are talking 2 different definitions. It is Third Party Grading and 4th Party Grading. I do sincerely pray you don't think a TPG or 4PG entity is grading out of the goodness of their hearts. Of course they are making a market. The 4PG is in fact grading the substance of the opinion of the TPG, and does so by making a specific market, and conditionally establishing an ongoing quest by items graded once by a TPG to be cracked out and re-submitted to the TPG, having "failed" to earn the "approval"and among other aspects, being willing to buy a collectible at the "market" value the 4PG has established within the collector community. But, you know all this. I will be a bit more clear: TPGs and 4PGs serve a worthwhile purpose and are helpful to the community, especially in drawing in fresh hobbyists that will at least have some level of confidence in the purchases made. But, like any Capitalist entity, and I am all for Capitalism, they would not exist without a vested interest and profit motive. Thus, they make a market. Again, though, you know all this. It is the choice of the individual if they want to leave the comfort of a graded piece, and buy raw from any venue of their choosing, and it is their Right to argue, bargain, sniff, scratch, etc. in their pursuit of their own interests and level of ability to identify the value of the piece. If someone wants to tout a higher level of purity via deception and description of a piece than a buyer is willing to believe, that is a simple solution...don't buy it, or in the alternative, bargain it down until it reaches the level of acceptance. People are not honest. That is a given. Anything of perceived value on a website, that has not had the benefit of a TPG or 4PG lable, should be immediately suspect as to a grandiose description being honest. If the website entity wants to allow it, that is their problem. If the individual buying allows it by not questioning and/or declining, then that is on the buyer. After all, is the buyer of that ungraded (by a respected TPG or 4PG) piece doing anything less than pursuing a possible profit?
  6. Our age difference is showing, as is our understanding of what a TPG actually does or does not do. Or what a 4PG does or does not do, and whether either have a vested interest or not in what you do (direct or not and that is a very subjective objective), and whether or not a bias exists. I pray that you are not of the opinion that a TPG/4PG does not exist to make a market. I sincerely hope and pray that you don't. The giveaway of questioning the definition of a 4PG is an example of not understanding making a market. That is neither good or bad, it just is. Your example of appraising a house and an auto mechanic fails on multiple levels, but it really does not matter. The only need fulfilled by the entities being discussed is exactly a perceived need by an individual of $ relevance. But, we are different, and I understand.
  7. All that has been discussed and described in the thread is a pursuit of (hoped for and rarely realized) profit under the guise of a hobby. That muddies everything that is a hobby, and always will. No TPG exists without a profit motive. No 4PG exists without a profit motive based on the profit motive of the TPG. It is the very, very rare hobbyist that pursues a hobby without any profit motive. All the TPGs and 4PGs do is fulfill a perceived need for relevance of the item collected. Just an opinion.
  8. The response was "should ship". Which is a standard escape clause meaning it won't ship on the 12th. Playboy pictures were exciting, but I never got to hold on to the real thing, even though I was the very definition of patience on that subject, growing up.
  9. Big Boy, Inc., Japan. Think Bobs (they are). Also involved in gaming, and shoot offs like comics, and stuff. Listed in D&B. Note the BB symbol is absent the Bobs we all know, to avoid problems, but is used by Big Boy Inc, for their other stuff. I don't know if that helps or not. It does not appear to be a knock off BB, but you never know.
  10. I don't know anything about good or bad art, or what constitutes talent of either, or how to determine the good from the not good covers of comics. But, I immediately liked B. A does not have the appearance of 6 most savage foes, to me, and Hulk in A does not look ready to take on anything except first graders.
  11. I see a sleeping gorilla, lying on an incline toward the left. but, I also see a wolf with raised hairs and ears, facing right. Did I pass, Doc?
  12. A bit more than morbid. Federal crime, including the nurse that drew the blood. CDC will also have something to knock on the door about...if all this is true. It does not have a "feeling" of truth, to me, but these days who knows. If I owned a comic signed after the date of the alleged crime, I would not be holding on to it, and would turn it in to LEO. Not doing so is more morbid (and possibly a criminal act). Sheesh, the things that people do or are accused of doing. Is there a discount pre-market sale list for the gentleman's bones or teeth or heart or brain, or. locks of hair....? Good Lord.
  13. I would think the lack of straightforward timely responses, with a bit of truth mixed in, and the time that has passed, may be a hint.
  14. My point (no pun intended) exactly. Coding 154779, modifier 59, I think.
  15. I am dying to know how many people looked in a dictionary, before deciding to reply or not.
  16. In any random group of humans, at least one will emerge with the ability to apply common sense approaches to a problem. Tag, you are it.
  17. So basically they tried a Fake delivery, but didn't make a Fake delivery. Darn.
  18. Buy some GI Joe comics and a cap gun to use while you read, and play Army?
  19. I am always on guard when I read those words. usually it means the person sending the words knows the reader of the words is going to share the words, which is the end game. These words are always....always followed by a story of tragedy, designed to deflect anger and elicit a feeling of guilt and shame in the reader, for having doubted the intentions of honor the person sending the words had at heart.
  20. I did my part. I sent him See Spot Run over 2 weeks ago.
  21. I wish I had paid more attention in math class, so I could figure out how much $100,00 is. How many fingers should I hold up?
  22. Thank you. I was hoping it was adjustable and hardware accessory was available for adding shelving. I then would have asked you for info on the manufacturer, because I have been looking for something like this and the height especially for a while.
