  1. How many of those 20 + copies were first prints and how many were second prints?
  2. They're all back on eBay now for 12-15 bucks...a fool and their money.
  3. An ad, which is not particularly important. image of danvers named as cap marvel which predates avenging 9 isn't important? Do you collect comics or just sell em'?? Eh, it's still an ad, and while there's a small niche of collectors who seek those out, the majority still go for the first full appearance of a character within the context of a story.
  4. That's a copper age book, so most discussion of it goes on there. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7689666&fpart=1
  5. Because we want it to show up on Lyria and catch on like wild fire so we can all dump them on the after market? Actually, I think the original idea was to see if we can convince people a comic is hot by all following it. It was an experiment. Why is is not showing up on Lyria when it has 70+ watchers? Because I'm specifically blocking the eBay category "Modern->Other" from the search results. Usually all sorts of non comic related stuff gets posted in that category so it's just easier to block it. But I've removed the block for your convenience. (thumbs u So it's the second most watched comic on Lyria, that's nuts.

  7. You can keep track of the watch count here: http://www.watchcount.com/?cc=US&uqsrc=plbm&uqkw=151460403201&uqcat=#serp
  8. Oh yea, it's settled. First time in these boards? Anyway, that's reads like an origin story to me. That doesn't mean it's her first appearance. If it came out a week before Captain Marvel #1, and Carol Danvers goes by Captain Marvel in the story, that means it appeared first correct? Appeared first in shops for people to read and buy. Thus, by the truest sense of the word, the first appearance of Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel. I've already made it clear, as does the text in the issue that chronologically it takes place after CM #1, if that's the point you're trying to make.
  9. I was about to post the same thing, if Gambit is on the cover of X-Men Annual #14, I've never seen him. Where is he located on there?
  10. Except Gambit wasn't on the cover of the X-Men Annual #14, that probably was a big influence with what book became the market favorite. Besides, from the text we now see inside Avenging #9, it's without a doubt Marvel acknowledges Captain Marvel #1 won't come out until a week after Avenging #9 and even makes note of it.
  11. Here's the whole text in the red area on the inside of Avenging #9, I typed it out since it is kind of small in places and not everybody may be able to easily read it: Previously… Some time ago, Peter Parker’s Aunt May moved to Boston. Also… CAROL DANVERS GOT AN AWESOME NEW COSTUME AND IS NOW CAPTAIN MARVEL! (You can find out more about that in Captain Marvel #1, which will be on sale next week! But this story takes place AFTER Captain Marvel #1, so “previously” still applies in a story sense and really what this means is that you are holding the FUTURE OF COMICS right in your very hands!)
  12. Why is that always the response around here when one can't back up their points otherwise?
  13. And yet if you read the text again in the red area it says "CAROL DANVERS GOT AN AWESOME NEW COSTUME AND IS NOW CAPTAIN MARVEL! You can find out more about that in Captain Marvel #1, which will be on sale next week!" You left out that very key sentence. In fact read ALL the text in the red area, I think this is a settled discussion now.
  14. Not really, Marvel officially lists the publication date of Avenging Spider-man #9 as a week before Captain Marvel #1, and in Avenging Spider-Man #9 she is CLEARLY identified as Captain Marvel:
  15. Avenging #9 is her first appearance as Captain Marvel to hit the newsstand according to the Marvel website, although chronologically it picks up after CM #1 story-wise. It came out a week earlier than CM #1 though, and Marvel's story synopsis for Avenging #9 says "Spider-Man plummets into action with the all-new Captain Marvel! Is the World's Greatest Super Hero ready for a ride with Earth's Mightiest Hero?" Read both of these links carefully, including publication date and story synopsis. She is called The all-new Captain Marvel in the story preview for Avenging #9: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/39263/avenging_spider-man_2011_9 http://marvel.com/comics/issue/42671/captain_marvel_2012_1
  16. Poor guy selling that Turok must have seen how many watchers it has and did this:
  17. I was just writing about that. CGC needs to be proactive instead of reactive on this one. CGC needs to call Marvel now or do the reseach and make sure which issue Avenging Spider-Man #9 or Captain Marvel #1 (2012) will have the notation of "Carol Danvers becomes the new Captain Marvel" on the label. I got no problem buying and flipping a modern like this, but doesn't this book give people some pause? This has the potential to be a key? Really? Why not? Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel, a different character than her previous Ms. Marvel persona. Kind of like Tales of the Teen Titans #44, Grayson becomes Nightwing, a different character than his previous Robin persona. Good point well made. I don't think it's official, but the Marvel wiki notes Captain Marvel (2012) #1 as her first appearance. http://marvel.wikia.com/Captain_Marvel_Vol_7_1 I think they fully intended CM #1 to be the first appearance since it chronologically takes place before AS #9, but for some reason AS #9 beat it to the newsstand by a week.
  18. Here's the publishing dates of Avenging Spider-Man #9 and Captain Marvel #1 according to Marvel's own website: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/39263/avenging_spider-man_2011_9 http://marvel.com/comics/issue/42671/captain_marvel_2012_1

Agreed. Right now it appears AS #9 should have that designation since it came out a week before CM #1, even though chronologically in the story CM #1 technically happens first.
