Yes, Mark Scott was on the corner in the dark area. I think I was at his booth when you spoke to me. Here is a photo of him and me:
Thanks Tony! Great seeing you as always...wish Don could have made it as well!

Mark is the first dealer on the right when you walk in. I tried to get him to come down for the first couple of shows.
Now he is here at every show. He has a ton of books every time. Watching him set up is a clinic in comic book dealer
effeciency.Robert runs a great show and any comic fan within a few hours of Evansville will be happy that they attended!

Before I purchased the aforementioned collection I wanted to get a better look at the comics with a higher value (when spending serious $$$ who wouldn't) so what better issue to start with than an Avengers #1!
The bag was VERY tight, an old mylite from days of yore...anyway, got it out with a little effort...back cover look decent so pretty happy.
However, when attempting to put the comic back I just didn't feel comfortable so I told the gentleman that if he had an extra bigger bag he may want to put it in that...he said that it was no problem to put it back in and proceeded to jam it in and.....well, the result is in the pic.
Needless to say when I looked at other issues of value I put the comic back in the bag from that point out.....

So much good advice posted on this thread!
It looks like the main theme is that hard work and perseverance eventually pays off...to which I wholeheartedly agree!
Unless you have a brick & mortar store where the books come to you....you will need to go out and find them!
I have posted a small percentage of my purchases on this thread through the years...always fun to share cool things that have been acquired in a variety of ways. I am more of a convention, auction, flea market, word of mouth guy....estate/yard/garage sales have been few and far between for good pick-ups in my experience...cudos to those who have success finding deals this way!!

Flea Market early Sat....nothing....then went to an auction about 30 mins from me and came away with a few low grade goodies...but the best thing that happened because I got to talking to a guy at the auction about comics and it turns out he lives very close to me....so today met up with him and bought a GK Scooby-Doo #1!

Busy weekend...Saturday stopped at a guy's house that has an old "comics/records for sale" sign in his yard....all I can say is wow...a path to walk from room to room otherwise records/comics and everything thing else taking up every inch of space...too overwhelming. Looked through at least 50 boxes of stuff...nothing great but the first couple pics were some 50 cent books I picked out..
Sunday went to a nice small comic show...next 4 pics were from $1 boxes and the last picture has various priced books I bought...
Happy with the weekends pick-ups...

That is what Half Price Books offered the guy...I paid him WAY more....in fact he was so happy that he called me back today to tell me that he had found 1 more small box (around a short box full) that was buried and asked if I was interested (like duh!) So this time we met halfway between our homes and I came home with some more comics...it's been a busy 4 days!
Here are a few of the better ones in the last (at least I think last unless I get another call) box from him...the black book is the Watchman slipcase edition and the Swamp Thing 37 is super sweet

@Bearcatcoach Back at it and killing it! I don't have the time to make those commutes, I'm guessing you're retired and or don't have small kids, lol.
Definitely the more you buy, the more your name goes out there as a respectable purchaser. That is an amazing grab and some other solid pickups too.
Close...not retired yet but am on my fall break....now come the end of May 35 years of teaching does come to a close...

Man, that's a depressing offer. A lot less than half value.
A whole lot less....which is why he did the smart thing and walked away....

What a nice varied haul. The HoS 92 looks really decent. Where is that going to be sold? I've been looking for a copy
The 92 is around a 4.0...maybe with a press and clean up to a 5.0. I will be sending it in to CGC so it will be a while before it makes it back home....

Small collection was purchased today...about 10 short boxes and a small box of toys...
Story behind the purchase:
This gentleman was at a Half Price Books and they offered him a ridiculous low amount for the 2 big books (pic of the offer included). He didn't accept of course. A guy I know was at the store and overhead the conversation....after they started talking eventually my name came as someone who would pay a fair price...he called me...we got together and he quickly accepted my offer...
Here are a few pics of some of the better books....the 2 big books were half the value of all 10 boxes (pretty easy to pick out...lol)

Got a line on some comics, the guy is getting them out of storage for me this week.
Is it a box, or two, or more?
I DON'T KNOW
Is it a collection, or just some random comics?
I DON'T KNOW
Is it old stuff, new stuff, or somewhere in between?
I DON'T KNOW
Is his asking price going to be in line with what he's selling?
I DON'T KNOW
All I DO know is that the anticipation is making me type in ALL CAPS!
Good luck!!

Saturday: went to an auction 3:30 hours away...bought around 500 vintage pbs & digests (some are way too risqué for a pic but very cool), a batman lot, Star Wars 1977 movie poster, Vampirella mag lot and a board game lot. On the way home stopped at an antique store and picked up the Frazetta books...a nice day!
Sunday: drove 4:00 hours to a comic show....came home with 10 boxes of bulk carded figures (star wars, star trek, super heroes etc) and a long box & 2 short boxes of comics. Lots of Dell Giants on the cheap, some modern variants and a sweet Swamp Thing 37 (no pics on these yet)
Monday: going to drive 1:30 hours to look at a small collection...supposed to have a couple nice keys in it...will post pics if I end up with them...
A busy start to my fall break...

I also assume he's not going through all this trouble to pay fvm for common books he could just buy online...so in that respect, I assume he's getting "good" deals, whatever that may be...
I do ok...if wasn't a "good" deal then I'm most likely not going to make the purchase. For example: The Savage Tales #1 I paid $300...I already have a CGC 8.0 which fmv is $1000+...the one I just bought is definitely better so I consider that to be good purchase.
And of course the low grade Strange Tales 169 and Swamp Thing 1 that I pulled out of a guy's dollar box that day I consider to be a pretty good deal too!
