I agree completely with your comment regarding "help me" threads. However, there have been many cases in the past where I have been happy to help. But only when those threads were created by well-established, respected and trusted CGC board members. For instance, when Andy (Thirdgreenham) requested some financial help via comic sales at the start of this year boardies bought up all his books quicker than you could say George Bailey!

    :highfive:

  2. In 2018 or 19 Funko donated many cases of pops to my wife. Her niece, who was about 10 years old at the time and a special needs child wanted to do a comic con at her school to raise money. That's what was supposed to happen. Due to lock down and the remote learning that followed (and her neice moving shortly after) this event never happened. So we were stuck with them.

We decided to give them away on Halloween. Word got out and we had more kids than ever at our house (we did have candy also). It was great! The kids loved them and all funkos were given away. I suppose many of them have already found their way to the landfill but at least there was some enjoyment there.

Yes this seems rather serious . I wonder if it is a Fedex policy to leave the item sometimes and just say it was signed for ,  but it seems so egregious when they are specifically paid to provide the service of getting a signature.

This policy started with all carriers during covid and they haven't stopped, at least here in Chicago. I haven't signed for a package with signature confirmation in a long time but have had them delivered with an apparent signature. Like others, I would be lucky if they even rang the bell. I also can't remember the last time I saw one of those notices that say there was a delivery attempt made.

I have a CollectInsure policy which will cover shipping, and I believe they require a package to have signature confirmation to make a claim. Fortunately I haven't had to make a claim yet but wonder what happens in a case like this.

Thanks to @CGC Mike for helping resolve this! CGC will be "buying" the book back for what I paid and the book will be removed from the census.

This is great news! Coincidentally I just saw a post by Dale Roberts, they have a raw 5.0  copy of that book in their new arrivals section if you're looking for a replacement

So I received a 1099 from eBay for the first time this year and I'm confused.  My sales were a bit under 20k but for some reason, eBay is calculating my sales and adding their fees bumping me above 20k.  Is this normal?  Why would I pay taxes on their fees?

I'm a little confused about this as well. Ebay final value fees are deducted from the sale price, correct? The buyer doesn't pay any extra so how would ebay fees result in a higher gross. Is it shipping cost that's included?
